Help Default message app running slow

Hi

My message app is running slow, when i click to open the app it takes about 10-15 seconds to open fully (show all the names and threads etc) then when i click on a thread it takes another 10ish seconds to load, it's useable but a tad irritating. No settings have been changed since i bought it and another apps and features are running smoothly. i don't think i have that many messages on the phone around the 5000 mark.

The HTC messages app does start to struggle with lots of sms.

You could try alternative sms apps.

Or limit threads to x messages and use sms backup+ to backup automatically to gmail

What alternative apps would you recommend? Also would i be able to transfer all messages over to the new app?

I can't recommend any as I don't use them.

The big three are
Go sms
Chomp sms
Handcent

You don't transfer messages. They're in a database that the replacements can read.

Others would probably go for this option.

I would backup using sms backup+. It uploads sms automatically to gmail and even labels them so they don't clog up your inbox. You can even read them from gmail on a pc. They can be restored too. Not individually but in 100, 200, 500 batch groups.

Then set a thread limit. I set 500
