Root Defrosting Bloatware on Titanium Backup - HELP!?

JSS12

Android Enthusiast
Hey,

So I am trying to put my bloatware back on my phone so that I can update my phone with the Nov OTA.

When I initially "removed" the bloatware, I "froze" the apps using Titanium Backup. This caused the apps to be removed from my Apps drawer.

However, when I went to defrost them, Titanium Backup says they are defrosted but they do NOT appear in my apps drawer.

ANY IDEAS??

ok so I re-froze the apps and then defrosted again and it worked.

But now im not sure how many I froze, bc they all look defrosted.

Is there a list anywhere of all the apps that came on the phone originally??

So I Re-froze and Re-defrosted as many apps as I could remember, and checked the app drawer and they were all there.

Then shut the phone off and turned it back on....

NOW THEY ARE ALL GONE FROM MY APP DRAWER AGAIN??

How do I make them stay, once they are defrosted???

Someone on the XDA forum, said I could just re-install all the stock apks.

1) would this work?
2) what is the worst case scenario - brick or just no stock apps?
3) is there a .zip file that has ALL of the stock .apks?

Or if you have any other comments or advise.. would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

If I don't like ____ that I flash, how would I go about going back to the way things were before I flashed?

Just do a nandroid backup and reboot that?

1) will the ota update notification go away after installing the kernal?
2) is it ok to use setcpu with this kernal?
HOW do I confirm that it installed?
And swype is really slow now...

No not after installing the kernel, there are ways to get rid of the update nag without installing the update though, or you can just flash a rom that has the update built in like virtuous 3.1.

Is SETCPU ok to use with this kernal?

Is there a list somewhere of everything that is included in this kernal?

I already installed it, I'm just curious as to everything included in it..

THANKS again for all of your help!

(also, there have still not been any responses to a .zip file containing all of the bloatware .apks - I don't need them now, but I may need it one day, so if anyone knows where/if that exists.... much appreciated!)

I dont think it worked for me, does it require that i have all my bloatware back on my phone??

My software number is 3.21.605.1

Shouldn't it be 3.26.605.1????

The kernel increased the rate your battery charges at. The rom will update the software on your phone to the one being sent out by verizon.

First thank you so much for all of you help.

Installed the ROM but now gmail and gmail unread count fc over and over
Everything else works perfectly.
Thoughts?

I was considering wiping my data, but what will I lose exactly?
And can I get everything back or will I manually need to fix whatever I cleared?

wow. just read this thread and it was painful.

wiping data will put your phone back to a (semi) factory fresh state.
you will have to start over from scratch but it should fix any errors you are experiencing.

I'd recommend booting into clockwork mod recovery, wiping data and cache, go into advanced settings and wipe the dalvik cache. Reapply the Rom. The first boot will take much longer than normal.
You will lose all your apps/data/contacts. So make sure to back them up before you do this. Use titanium backup to backup your apps or sign up for appbrain. Backup your contacts to you sd card or make sure they are backed up on google or with vzbackup assistant. If you are using vz backup assistant, I'd highly recommend backing them up to Google though.
