Root defunct

stock kernel can and will boot aosp, stock ramdisk wont. the kernel itself is just one small piece of the boot.img file the boot.img and kernel though associated with eachother are not the same thing the only reason you get a whole boot.img when someone releases a custom kernel is because i dont think youd wanna have to figure out how to package a boot.img properly would you?

Gotcha. Like I said I've never built a from or kernel, I'm just throwing out stuff ive observed from other roms. I'm not the expert, you guys are. I'm here because I like being the guinea pig >_< makes me feel active in the development
 
Yes cooldudezach it does install Superuser. I'll add it to my archive now and revise the tutorial.
RBheromax, should I just add your complete rom to the archive? Or is it ok minus impactor? Also any chance to debloat and maybe deodex it?

Aha. Yeah, if you flash that zip, it places the su binary in /system/bin and Superuser.apk in /system/app, which essentially roots the phone and installs Superuser.apk. A lot of phones dont have access to fastboot/custom recovery beforehand to use that though, but we do :D
 
should make sure ot does busybox too if it doesnt already. gotta have busybox if youre gonna get the most out of rooting

well regardless imma do some kind of video on it. I have SCR Screen Recorder Pro and have been testing it out with MC4 and NOVA 3 as well as a few others. so far its much smoother while recording, and pretty much 60fps while not! it plays high end games a hell of alot smoother than my Galaxy SIII which cant even stabilize at the same clock speed >_<
 
i like the vid idea cuz some people need to know what they will see when they are doing it so they dont freak out. and we have a better gpu than the s3 so our games will run smoother.
the reason the update.zip probably fails is because assert checks and the cwm isnt properly set up to give the right info as to pass it

yea, even though i wrote out the instructions clear as day when the screen stays black people might be like "ermehgurd wtfbrick?!" that and its always nice to have a visual demonstration. a pictures worth a thousand words

so CAN cwm give the right info and if so would it also flash the stock recovery on top of it?

The Adreno 305 is faster than Adreno 225? Seems like GPU is advancing faster then CPU.

Hmm I might want to look at Moto G again, the Snapdragon 400 series seems like a great mid-line CPU/GPU. I want moto g with micro SD, so useful.

The old one is up, the new one will be tomorrow. Both include a picture in picture of the desktop and the phone so you can see what's going on on both ends. I <3 Sony Vegas ^_^ the rest of my channel is devoted to mostly video game playthroughs and some flashing/unlocking tutorials
 
thats whats up. i dont think i could do a game walkthrough i can barely stand explaining how to install cwm. got so sick of it while working on the warp sequent i made a program to do it for people. run the program, click the button, and leave me the hell alone lol

Thats the fun of my channel. I sound like I'm talking to the audience, but really its just thinking out loud. I'm very patient and like to help people. They are NOT Let's Plays. I actually take offence to that term. Theyre not really walkthroughs either. I just wanna play and record. My philosophy is people will watch to be entertained and so they dont feel alone. Thats why I watch a lot of YouTube. I'm mostly by myself while my girlfriends at work if I'm not at my office. Its nice to hear another persons voice. I'm schyzophrenic as well, so it helps
 
Hmmm...interesting. My girlfriends phone won't take the kernel. Bootloops every time. I even tried installing my backup of stock with just the kernel and root and same result. Wiped her phone completely and tried to install from fresh, root and the kernel still loops. She wanted the extra speed, but shes not worried about it. Thought id let you know
