Root defunct

Speaking of wifi, does your custom kernel have the same wifi issues when using location settings are enabled? More details http://androidforums.com/zte-awe/802455-zte-awe-wifi-bug.html

As far as the wifi goes, they are going to stay as-is until somebody finds a better solution. Spz0 will just have to deal with it ;) I do not have the time to learn C and figure out why the driver compiles into a large filesize. All I'm concerned about is that it works with my kernel.

I havent noticed anything like that with either the stock or the new wifi, so beats me. I did remove Connections Optimizer out, so maybe that will alleviate some issues there. I did notice that when using Wifi Tether app it will permanently broadcast your wifi connection until you reboot, whether you turn it on or off. Thats all ive noticed though

as far as wifi you guys wont see issues...yet
the wifi bug is only wen u start using the kernel we have in private beta right now
different kernel source with some other improvements
that has to have a custom built module that is HUGE apparently
we just need to get it smaller, i will be looking at it tonight, and if anyone wants to help out be in #zte8930 on freenode. we could really use all the help we can get so this gets done faster :D

What are the chances of my service being discontinued? That's the only thing that I'm worried about. Also if it does get discontinued, when I flash the recovery will my service work again?

Thanks in advance:)

Rooting and cwm dont get your service cut off. They can't detect that unless you have to send it back for whatever reason. But even then unless its unbootable we have the means to restore it to stock and undone

probably best if people who dont understand what theyre doing dont do it... research, find out what root is and what it does, if you still arent comfortable dont do it because though it wont hurt your service you could seriously damage the phone or do things that will hurt your service like tethering

I did it last night but my phone was stuck on a boot loop. After I recovered to my backup image everything was fine but the weird part was it still rooted. My backup image was before I installed any zip files so I'm still confused but I'm just happy its rooted.

Rooting the ZTE z998
