Help Delay/Lag when opening contacts

I am having the same problem when I open the contact list delay about 5 seconds I factory reset my s3 and now without any contacts and downloaded apps and I am still facing this issue

As I said before as well, it's because the Contacts and Dialer apps aren't kept on memory. Try flashing a AOSP/AOKP/CM ROM and you'll see the huge difference. By the way, I solved by flashing the JKAY framework and by whitelisting those apps.

Or try a 3rd party contacts app. i use Go Dialer and yeah it takes ages to load the first time after a reboot but after that its fine unless ive ran some other heavy apps.
As Sherlock says, the OS is knocking it out of RAM so its fully loading each time. I dont use the dialer much but maybe if you use it a lot, Android will learn to give it more priority and keep it in RAM longer?

Using Paranoid Android since last weekend, I swear I won't go back to Samsung based ROMs anytime soon, it's so smooth and fast. No delays at all.

Ive been tempted to check out PA but doesnt it have problems with recognising Ext Sd and using wifi tethering mate?

My phone is my only source of data lol, i tether like 40GB p/m so its the ultimate deal breaker for me :) im sure theyl fix it soon. Thanx for the heads up mate ;)

this issue isn't linear proportional to the contacts number now I have zero and it still annoying me I went to flight mode and it opens normally !!! then by getting back to costume mode it takes longer to open gradually till reaching about 5 sec

Yeah, i dont know why the contacts apps on android seem so heavy tbh, maybe it has to scan the memory each time its started to look for contacts whether theyre there or not while not cached?
Tbh i went from dumbphone (obviously not app based and the contacts appeared very quickly) to Symbian OS (not sure if the core functions like contacts were apps in the way they are on android) to Android and on every android phone ive used from 2.1 to 4.1.2 the contacts app has been really slow to load when it isnt cached (to be fair, Contacts probably has a lot of permissions and it has to control a lot of hardware) but i have no real experience of iOs or RIM so do iphones and blackberrys (or WP) have this lag when opening their contacts/dialer app?

It's just Samsung, believe me. On my Nexus and my S3 (with PA), it loads just as fast as in iOS. It's a Samsung related problem. They really messed up something, you can notice lags virtually anywhere on the S3 when running their firmware.

Tbh the s3 is the only "good" android ive owned so i cant really say.
So its a Samsung OS thing then mate?

..and im downloading a Sammy based rom as we speak lol... d'oh :)

Yeah, it's Samsung, on the Nexus it loads blazing fast, same on Xperia Z and other phones. Samsung should redesign TouchWiz from scratch, it would be much more beneficial.

Nah they should just keep makin it easy for us to fill their hardware with the firmware of our choice mate lol :)
Man the Xperia Z is such a sexy lookin phone. Imagine it with an AMOLED display.. :lust:

At first, I was quite pleased with Samsung based ROMs as I (mistakenly as it turns out) thought that multi-window, S-Voice, keyboard, camera and SPlanner were more refined than Google's effort. How wrong I have been. I have returned to the true Android world again, having briefly flirted with Samsung based ROMS (always custom I may add and those have been for the most part much better than stock), having come from a Galaxy Nexus that never used anything else but custom JB firmware and really like using my S3 again.

I am using Sentinel 4.40 ROM with a Yank v1.5 Kernel and this thing is flying like never before. No contacts lag, no battery drain, other than what one could consider fair and reasonable, no S-Voice that never recognises what I'm saying, no b****y multi-windows that I never use anyway (what's the point when you have multi-tasking natively anyway) and Splanner, which is much better than Google's stock calendar I have found a sweet alternative for, better than both afore-mentioned, IMHO.

This is how this device can perform without all Samsung's 'baggage' that, if we're honest, very few of us, very rarely ever use. One final word of caution, the CM10.1 based ROMs all seem to have a problem with the Cameras. In my case it was the video recording, which worked but without sound. Having done some searching I found a 4.2 based zip over at XDA Developers, which has done the trick and now everything, and I mean everything (including WiFi AP, Bluetooth, NFC) works.

One final note, the thing I found really useful on Sammy based custom ROMs, at least the ones I was using, was the in-call recording function. But even for that purpose I found a sweet and fully functional alternative.

I obviously cannot confirm that as I don't try all ROMs, what I can confirm is that it resolved the issue on the Sentinel ROM. You can but try and, as per usual, take a Nand backup before you do.
