Help Delay/Lag when opening contacts

manoja

Newbie
I have noticed a slight delay in Contacts showing up, when Contacts is pressed .

Has anybody experienced something similar ?

If yes, any solutions ???

I've got rid of any lag by turning off "power saving mode", disabling the S voice double home button click and also reducing the window transitions to 0.5x or Off completely.

Have already tried these options, but the lag is still present . Looks like, i am the only one facing this problem in the forum .

Same with my S3,since the 1st day, it takes 12 seconds to open my 200 contacts, tried all the suggestions over the internet(update, few apps, power save, ram, flush cache, stop sync......etc),nothing resolved my S3 problem.
Its frustrating especially when my friend use his Iphone5 to show me the difference!
Please help, if no solution found I sell at half price!

About 7-8 seconds . I am now using DX Contacts & everything is fine, though the stock application is still slow to open.

I've the same contacts lag problem. There are about 130 contacts and it takes about 4-5 seconds to show the list.

Are there any solutions for this?

I have almost 500 contacts and mine opens instantly. I am wondering if you have facebook or some other accounts syncing in, could one of them be causing the delay of all the contacts? In other words for example you have a yahoo email address or facebook,. Try disabling each email contacts you have in your phone one by one and see if one of them is slowing the bunch down.

If you look through your contacts, is anything wrong with them? Any of them messed up or have strange characters?

I get a short lag as well but as i dont save my contact on my phone or sim card but have them on my google account, i assumed it was downloading contacts, but having thought about it in reply to this, i guess it cant be that as this would mean no access to contacts when you are in a no signal area.

Hello Guys,

I started getting this problem since last couple of days. here are the things I see.

1. was on ICS till last week and everything was perfect , Updated to JB and installed juice Defender. I noticed the the problem after these. I tried uninstalling the Juice Defender but that did not solve my problem.

2. Messages also has the same issue but I guess the root of the issue is contacts. When I open messages, it stalls for a while , shows numbers instead of contact names for few seconds and then come up with names.

3. Problem happens only after the phone is brought up after a screen lock for some time. After the first time opening, everything works just quickly without problem.

4. I noticed the network activity icon blinks just before contacts coming up properly.

5. I have 1100 contacts under 'My Contacts' in google. I see 2 or 3 blue 'g' symbol on each contacts in the book. I dont know what it means.

5. so it is either JB , Juice Defender or some issues with google/gmail account sync has caused the issue.

anyone to help ? I will post more details if i find any

Hi all,
I get this too.sounds like it is a fairly common JB issue maybe?
contapps app loads quicker

i also get a similar delay when opening sms/messaging app - it seems maybe that JB is killing off apps a bit too much? just my guess :)

doh! :( it was doing so well...but then must have got app killed by os i assume - but it seemed to stay cached longer than stock app

i think a quad core super smart phone should be able to do a better job of load/caching regularly used apps like these imo ?

After having this phone for a week or so, I am utterly disappointed in these lag/delay issues. The phone has 4 cores for God's sake!

I suffer with a delay of about 1 second when waking the phone up, an issue I believe is down to the processor and/or governor and how it 'deep sleeps' to save power. No way to get around this without rooting the phone. I won't be doing this especially as I bought the phone sim free for nearly

I have that same problem too!!! I only have 154 contacts and experiencing a slight delay when i first open my contacts.

I noticed that it only happens when i first open contacts but when i leave it running and go into contacts again there is no delay.

I am facing another issue though it started happening today . . . When i go through my contacts and click on one of them then hit the back button my screen gives me a small flash before it goes back it never happened before and was wondering why this is happening any ideas???

I came here via a Google search due to the same phone lag issue. It would lag into the dialer and also through the contacts app.

I realised I had changed the default font, and was also experiencing a very slight glitch when returning to the home screen with the titles of the apps kind of flashing for a split second. So I figured I would change back to the standard font and the home screen problem stopped immediately.

After that I checked the slow opening I was having (1-2 seconds max) with the phone dialer app and contacts app. Right now it seems to have been fixed.

I know that you may not have changed your font, but this was my solution.

I have purchased Samsung Galaxy S3 for 10 days and I am also very much disappointed about its speed. So much for four processors and one giga byte of RAM to be disable to do even routine task a phone has to do such as opening contact list. My contacts list opens 10 seconds after i hit the contact icon also my keypad or logs appear with unexpected delay.
i have installed 68 apps including some dictionaries and a couple games. Could someone please help me how to solve this annoying problem. I m thinking about giving my Samsung out and shifting to Iphone.

As I said before as well, it's because the Contacts and Dialer apps aren't kept on memory. Try flashing a AOSP/AOKP/CM ROM and you'll see the huge difference. By the way, I solved by flashing the JKAY framework and by whitelisting those apps.
