**DELAYED**Thunderbolt Firmware Upgrade (DELAYED ON MAY 4th))

I'm not getting any notification and when I go to update my system software, it says that there's no new updates found.

Any guesses?

THey send the OTA in stages. SO you could get it anytime of now or a few days from now.

Please also know that according to Verizon Wireless, trying to select the "System Update" option on your phone, doesn't allow you to actually access the update any faster and perhaps, at all. As Dark Jedi has stated, the update is indeed sent in stages, and it's not a "general release" where everyone can receive/download it at once. Although, it really should be.

I know going to 'System Update > Check New' won't work, if the update hasn't been pushed to me yet... But, I have run it several times (for the heck of it), and every time I get this message:

Error

SERVICE UNAVAILABLE
Check for Software Update under
Settings when service is available

The problem? I have full 4G.
This is also happening to my dad's Thunderbolt (both while also connected to WiFi - but it turns 4G on, when looking for an update, so that shouldn't have anything to do with it). Is this happening to anyone else?

It happens to me once in a while. I just did it, got that message... did it again and it was fine... said no update available.

I'm always amazed when I read VZW dispatches like this. The initial post was issued five days ago, stating that the update was being pushed in stages, yet no one has reported that they actually received it. Where have they been pushing it -- to their booming LTE market in Siberia?

Um, not every thunderbolt owner is registered to message boards.

If about 500,000 4G devices (large portion thunderbolts) were sold as has been published by Verizon, you can bet only about a few hundred (at most) are posting to these boards. Very small percentage.

The other owners could care less about updates.

True that. I have to look over my wife's phone (a Droid X) when she tells me an app isn't working right and, more often than not, I find that there's an update that she's ignored or hadn't installed. In general, most Android (and iPhone) users I know only care about what's under the hood when something blatant doesn't work right. Otherwise, they're quite happy to not be bothered by allot of technical stuff.

NOT gingerbread. Just fixing some minor issues and by minor I don't even mean the audio problem when recording videos or any battery drains.

Multiple people confirmed that it does fix the recording video audio problem. There are more changes in the update than the one official page says. Several of the changes result in improved battery life as well.

You sure about this? I specificalyl remember reading somethign about how it doesn't address these issuse in another post somewhere. Also doesn't state any of these changes on the official verizon website. Would be great to have these updates for sure but don't want to get overly excited.

I personally am not sure since I do not have it yet, I just read what people who are using the leaked build(which is the same as this update) say.

Not a stupid question brother.
In general most of these updates get sent out and will appear as a pop up. In the rare occasion this doesn't happen you can go to settings and click on Software update.

However, if you are asking how to get this update..you just have to wait for the pop up.

Can't say we didn't see that coming . . . what a surprise. Now their real motive for delaying it was to push on gingerbread . . . book it.

Quick question. Would it be correct to say that the huge battery drain from the LTE side is from the 700mhz radio on the phone? Being this is a longer sign wave than the 1900mhz PCS CDMA wave hence more power. I remember the 1st phones that came out 800mhz. Had a huge battery but would reach out and touch someone.

Just wondering if this update is expected to do anything with the hotspot. I've had a lot of problems lately with the hotspot resetting my mobile network. I'm not in a 4G zone, but even the 3g losses connection when my hotspot is on. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue and if the leaked update fixed that.

Agreed, as to your initial comment, but I would be willing to bet that there are at least a few message board members in every single market in which the update is released from day one, and -- as you might have noticed -- that's the sort of news that tends to get posted here due to the "first!" mentality that pervades here.

In any event, subsequent posts have confirmed what I was getting at: VZ has NOT been rolling out the update as they previously stated.

What's up with the HTC Thunderbolt and delays?

More like what's up with Android and delays well I know it's a big issue with the carrier and manufacture. I'm used to it because pretty much every time my droid, droid x were about to get an update it would be pushed back. I've quit caring now and just figure I'll get it when I get it.
