Delete Stocks

Saurav

Lurker
Hi,

I am on the 3 network and I received the 'Stocks' app pre-installed.
It uses data etc and obviously must take battery as the second I stop it, it re-opens. How the bloody hell do I delete this app? Why not give us the option on inital phone start-up to pick which apps we want rather than give us some useless (to some people) apps.

If I can't delete it, is there a way to stop it from running?

You can't uninstall it unless you're rooted, but you can stop it from syncing.

Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Stocks -> Sync Stock Info (uncheck the box).

I wouldn't worry about the battery usage, it will hardly dent the battery.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. There is no uncheck button next to "Sync stock info" but there is one next to "update when opened."

Auto Sync must be off then.

Just leave it running, when it realises it's not needed, the OS will kill it and it will have minimal impact on your battery.
