I have Xperia ray, it was working fine with ginger. I updated on 4.0.4 and then all the problems started. My wifi was not working. i saw in some posts that i can update the android to 4.1.2 by rooting the phone. i found step by step guide and i followed every single one. In some of the final steps it says "In ClockworkMod recovery, perform a full data wipe first. Then scroll down to

I made a full data wipe but the zip file with new android didnt want to install saying just error. Now i cant turn the phone even in recovery mode.
Any help will be much appreciated

sry for my english
welcome to the forums!!!!!!!
did you make a nandroid backup? you can just restore back to it. in order ot flash roms you need to wipe properly. you need to wipe dalvik cache, cache, system, factory reset before you flash a rom.

what rom did you flash? do you have a link? are you sure the rom you flashed was for your phone specifically?

I didn't made the backup but i wipe everything you mentioned above. Now i know my mistake, i used a zip for Xperia neo, not for ray, probably thats why it didn't install.
Now i have the correct zip on the sd card but i cant boot the phone to install it.

yeah that is one thing you have to be very careful with. flashing a rom not made for your device has the potential to brick it.

can you get into recovery? if so all is not lost. if not then you can try and re-install recovery. if that does not work then i have no clue as i'm not at all familiar with your device.

i cant get into recovery only frozen sony screen showed up. I tried with flash tool to enter in recovery but with no success. Any tip how to reinstall recovery?
First time flashing so i'm new at this

well this being a root issue i moved you to the root forum.....

ok so no recovery that is not good. i have no idea on how to get recovery for your device. so let me do some research and see what i can dig up for you.

ok so i have not found much as far as how to install recovery. most seem to point to rom mananger or an app called x-parts. but this does not help if you can't boot up. i did find this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773227. now i'm not sure what mode you need the phone to be in, however. but you can at least try it. this is a program you run on your pc.

but let me do some more research for you.

ok so looks like i found a twrp recovery......

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046977

instructions are in the op. you will need to setup adb. you can get the mini sdk here: http://androidforums.com/faqs/443072-adb-guide-updated-12-05-2011-a.html

1.download the sdk-tools.zip and extract it into a folder( i usually call the folder "android").
2.download twrp
3.open the command window from the "android" folder
4.type the command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot flykernel8_twrp.img

your phone will need to be in fastboot mode......not sure how to do that on your device however. it should be similar to going into the bootloader.

hopefully this wil work
