phone numbers in my contacts were accidentally deleted, is there a way I can recover them?

If you have used the option to allow Google to backup your contacts you can easily restore them by following the instructions here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/1069522?hl=en
HTC also has a manual backup method that will store a contacts file on your SD card. This would have required you to have made a backup yourself though. If you have, you should be able to open your contacts page and find a restore option in the menu.
If you have neither manually backed up your contacts or allowed Google to automatically back them up, I think you are out of luck.
