Help deleteing system files

I'm trying to delete bloatware and also change boot animation. Do I need unsecured boot? When I make changes / delete stuff it comes back when I reboot. I have root explorer. I know where the virgin mobile boot animation is but it won't delete.

So it was the kernel keeping me from changing anything but still looking for a digital rain boot animation for the desire 601 if anyone finds one please post or msg me
