Help deleting Gmail

For some reason I am unable to delete mail from my gmail bin box there is no delete icom can any one advise me please

The way I do it is to log in to Gmail with a browser on my pc and then go to the trash and select what I want to delete. After selection, I get the option to delete forever.

I think you can do it from browser on the phone too, just not from anywhere in the app.

Hi

In the latest gmail 4.5 menu> settings> general settings it is the top option. The icon appears when you have selected a message.
