Help Deleting gmails from phone

It looks like there are only two ways to erase the hundreds of emails on my phone:

1. One by one, using the checkbox on the left

2. On my main computer, batch-archiving en masse

Isn't there a way to batch-archive emails from the phone?

Yeah, there is no "select all". You have to check all the ones you want deleted/archived then press delete/archive.

You technically could do a "search" first for whatever criteria, then delete/archive them.

I would far prefer the read message was auto purged unless you saved on exit. I rarely save a message. Would be faster/easier.
