Help deleting icons on the Menu tabs

Hi All, I have a Samsung Galaxy S2. I am wanting to delete the icons (that came with the phone i.e. Gmail, IM, Mini diary, AllShare, Clock, to name but a few), but I can't seem to find a way to delete them.

For now I have created a folder called 'crap' and I'm just putting them in there to get them off my Menu pages.

Any ideas if they can be deleted?

On un-rooted phones you can install a 3rd party launcher such as Launcher Pro:-

These have the ability to hide app drawer icons.
