Root deodex template for theming

ziggy46

Android Expert
hey i would like to start making themes for the triumph and also theme non system apps. but before i can do that i need a deodex template to make it easier to remove all the .odex files.

how does the de-odex.sh look?

Code:
#!/bin/sh

rm -rf /system/app/*.odex
rm -rf /system/framework/*.odex

also, any suggestions are appreciated...

thanks,
-ziggy46

I wish I could help you but I have no clue what your asking for. Cant wait to check your theme tho...lol

yea im gonna port themes from the droid first.... but as for the deodex file. i need to re-write the update-script in edify format now, i just found out the version of cwm the triumph has doesnt support amend script.... it has to be edity

Wish I could help but when I tried on my Intercept it was an ugly fail and this is my primary phone so I can't loose it too long. I have the sdk but have no clue on getting an emulator going. By the time I figure it out someone waaay smarter then me will have it done.

Just use a kitchen and deodex properly.

EDIT: Here's a good kitchen to use. It has an option in the menu for quick deodexing: [KITCHEN][August 10 '11] HTC Android Kitchen, v0.174 [Linux / Mac / Windows] - xda-developers

Slightly off-topic: If you're deleting files, you don't need to force remove recursively ("-rf"). That's only only if you're getting rid of folders. Help page on the "rm" command:

Code:
rm --help
Usage: rm [OPTION]... FILE...
Remove (unlink) the FILE(s).

-f, --force ignore nonexistent files, never prompt
  -i prompt before every removal
-I prompt once before removing more than three files, or
when removing recursively. Less intrusive than -i,
while still giving protection against most mistakes
--interactive[=WHEN] prompt according to WHEN: never, once (-I), or
always (-i). Without WHEN, prompt always
--one-file-system when removing a hierarchy recursively, skip any
directory that is on a file system different from
that of the corresponding command line argument
--no-preserve-root do not treat `/' specially
--preserve-root do not remove `/' (default)
-r, -R, --recursive remove directories and their contents recursively
-v, --verbose explain what is being done
--help display this help and exit
--version output version information and exit

By default, rm does not remove directories. Use the --recursive (-r or -R)
option to remove each listed directory, too, along with all of its contents.

To remove a file whose name starts with a `-', for example `-foo',
use one of these commands:
  rm -- -foo

  rm ./-foo

Note that if you use rm to remove a file, it might be possible to recover
some of its contents, given sufficient expertise and/or time. For greater
assurance that the contents are truly unrecoverable, consider using shred.
