Root Deodexed .595 running like crap

No one has mentioned using Gingerbreak before, am I missing something here?

Gingerbreak is a little app written specifically for rooting gingerbread across multiple handsets. Unfortunately, it no longer works on .595 (patched by mototral/verizon) so you need to pick the deodexed version if you still want root.

No, you're getting your rumors mixed up. LOL :)

Gingerbreak is only needed if you have installed a non-rooted copy of Gingerbread and need to obtain root. It works on all current leaks but reportedly does not work on the OTA version that Verizon is supposed to release any time now.

Unlucky, you don't have to mess with Gingerbreak because the rooting process has already been done for you and nicely packaged up by Team Black Hat (TBH). That's where the whole load 3 files in recovery comes from. Just forget that you saw the word Gingerbreak for now and use instructions posted by trophynuts.

A REALLY good app to keep on hand is TBH. You have to pay a couple of bucks for it, but it serves as a good place to find every file that has been leaked for the X. Team Black Hat

I got it myself. The TBP app is a great little app to have. It allows you to get these updated files without having to read through countless forum posts to find them. Don't get me wrong, I love my Droid forum, but this app just cuts out the time consuming droll through posts to find what your looking for.

@alprazolam
Well I haven't been able to find anyone who says Gingerbreak is working for .595 (stock) and the assumption is it pretty much won't work for .596 either.

@trophynuts:
As far as it's usage, it was just easier for me to do it the way I did. Same results. Different path. From SBF (froyo) I only had to flash 2 files versus 4.

its all good if it worked for you then roll with it. I just know a lot of people have had issues with getting gingerbreak to work and if someone is confused or a little noobish it maybe easier for them to not try using it.

I beg to differ, I went to unrooted stock route just for the hell of it, looking toward the release of the OTA. After a couple days I got board and started having withdrawal from not tinkering with my phone so instead of SBF and reflashing the whole process, I downloaded and tried Gingerbreak..... all 3 versions, in every configuration I could find and try. Read through all 60 pages of the posts on XDA and I don't recall seeing anywhere that someone had used it to successfully root .595. All other leaks , yes, but not .595.

This is the reason I would assume P3 warned everyone to not take the OTA till they get it rooted. But then again, this was my personal experience.

SBF'd, Rooted, and just booted up from installing .588 and it's unbearably slow. I don't even think I'm going to bother with installing .595 and just SBF back to stock. But I want this 100% stock like it's out of the box, clean SD card and all then I'm going to take it to Verizon with "service issues" and get a new one and go from there. 99% positive I have a bunk phone.

I take that back. It's fast as shit. After I let it sit for a few minutes it's much better. Quadrant score of 1493 before running quickclock and I'll have an after score shortly.

dude the first boot up from .588 is going to take a few minutes if that is what your referring too. You've gone this far you may as well flash .595 and see what happens.

.595 installed. No problems so far, fingers crossed. Thanks to everyone that helped and hopefully this helped other people as well. On a side note, I'm happy to have Netflix :D
