my question is how and what do i need to design my own skins etc for my phone using htc desire with 2.2

like how you have a ksin for open home etc so i can redesgin for my own use

So you use open home? I'm sure there must be tutorials around the web to create open home skins (if it supports them)

Otherwise its a case of using an application on PC like apk edit, extract the apk, edit the images and package it back up again.

I want to put shortcuts for my bookmarks on my home screen. Anyway you can edit the thumbnail. I have dolphin

Use 'Desktop Visualizer'. You have to make the thumbnail pic yourself but the rest is pretty easy.
