Desire 601 bootloops (never been rooted/unlocked)

At the moment my HTC Desire 601 bootloops. It has never been unlocked or rooted.

Last night I did not charge my phone, so I woke up to it being completely drained of battery. When I plugged it in to get charged, and turned it on around 15% charge. Then it started bootlooping. It just keeps on rebooting and I cant enter the home screen anymore.

What I think happened, is the phone was in the middle of updating an application when the battery went out. Which could have damaged the system files. Since this phone OS has never been altered in anyway.

You may need to factory reset. Unfortunately that means you will lose everything :( but will most likely get your phone booting up again.

Pull the battery and replace it. Then hold volume down + power.

At the bootloader screen use volume down button to navigate to factory reset. Then hit the power button to select it.

In short, I already tried that and it didnt work.

I entered the "safe mode" I dont know what it is really called in Android. Then I tried the following actions

Fastboot - leads me to more options that I dont really understand (bootloader and reboot bootloader)
Recovery - The screen goes black for a minute then bootloops
Factory Reset - The screen goes black for a minute then bootloops
Clear Storage - The screen goes black for a minute then bootloops
Image CRC - Seems to do a test and it passes
SHow Bardcode - shows 3 barcodes

I did not try the following
-sim lock
-check smartsd
-bootloader
-reboot bootloader

*Edit
Also, I should add that it even bootloops when I plug it into the wall charger. When I plug it into the wall charger, I get the battery charging animation. Then it bootloops.

Well, you may have to go for getting a replacment (I don't think the desire has been available long enough to be out of warranty).

Good Luck! This seems like it may be a tough one!

I bought it in full and with no warranty back in December 2013. Also I paid $150 which is about half price at the time.

At the moment I am using my old LG P930 which I got in 2012.

Using my LG P930 I do notice that I am getting better battery life. On the broken HTC 601 Desire I find that the battery drains quickly. I generally only get half day chargers, and it sometimes gets hot when I loose battery quickly. Perhaps it could have been a hardware issue.

I believe it is still within the manufacturer's warranty (1 year)and should be covered through VM. They likey will replace it but you'll need to call them, or try emailing saveme@thevirginangels.com

The battery issue has been discussed in another thread, it was not just you, there are lots of us who've experienced this issue. Mine has been intermittent and the phone is staying awake constantly. No one has resolved the issue with the battery other than it seems to be related to the KitKat update in some way. When I notice my battery drain I've been able to get things back to normal with a restart.

Hope that helps!
