Root Desire cam not working after root

Hi,
so i got hold of a HTC Desire, pretty decent phone to start with, but with an imminent storage issue, so i rooted my device, installing oxygen to replace my stock rom, i was all happy and stuff, untill i opened my cam application, the cam used to work fine without the root and with the original stock rom, but now all i get is a black screen with not responding error. i read a relevant thread in this context and ran htc asia and o2 ruu but to no avail, my specs are

HTC desire
andriod version 2.2
baseband ver 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Kernel version 2.6.32.15-gd96fc0

I will highly appreciate all the help i can get!!!!

So what is the current state of the phone? Did you succeed in running the RUU (in which case you are not rooted), or are you still running Oxygen? And did you make any mods to Oxygen, such as flashing a different kernel (I ask as that's the thing most likely to break the camera software)?

If you are still running Oxygen try doing a factory reset and reflashing the ROM, then test the camera before restoring anything (you didn't restore any system settings after flashing? That could also do it).

If that doesn't do it then try another ROM.

If the RUU actually ran and you still have a camera problem then that would imply it's nothing to do with the ROM. Will be harder to suggest solutions in this case.
 
Actually if that is your current software then the RUU did run. In which case you have a completely stock, unrooted HTC ROM, and no trace of Oxygen in the system. So is the camera working now?

Yes i had the stock rom on again, but the camera still didnt work, so i rooted my device again and reinstalled oxygen, therefore my current status is a rooted device with oxygen rom and NO CAMERA working.. :( as far as i know running a ruu should have fixed it but it didnt, i cant see how its a hardware related problems either, can you recomend a suitable ruu?
 
Hmm, strange. The RUU should replace everything. Was the phone originally using network branded software, and if so which?

The official gingerbread RUU or the latest unbranded WWE froyo (405.5 - am on the phone so can't easily link) would be my usual suggestions.

What tool did you use to root? Just trying to work out how you can have a software problem that's independent of the software you are running.
 
no it was a non-branded one, i used the unrevoked 3.1.6 one click utility for rooting purposes. i will now try running the ruu you recomended,
 
FINALLY.... the cam works yet again ..... i reran RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.14_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27, the utility worked.........

but most importantly THANKS HADRON you have been very helpfull :)
