Desire Firmware OTA Update

as stated earlier in this thread, I did the upgrade and had no issues at the time, unbranded phone currently sitting on the tmobile network.

Since I have noticed my battery life is not as good and that the phone doesnt want to charge to 100%, been on charge all night for 9hrs now and its staying at 93%.

Same here, using unbraded desire on o2 simplicity tarif, no problems before upgrade, after upgrade all seemed fine for a day or two, then would not charge 100% (would usually get to around 90%) without disconnecting and reconnecting. last night charged to 100%, little niggles like these are still not enough to put me off this excellent device.

From Orange CS

I can advise that the latest firmware update for the HTC Desire is not currently available. I recommended that you keep an eye on www.Orange.co.uk as it would be made available there when ready.

The reason it can take a bit longer for Orange to have the latest firmware available is because with an Orange branded phone there is Orange software on it as well.
Because of this we need to make sure that the firmware update is compatible with the Orange software so it does not hinder you using your phone.

If the update is not compatible we will not release it and we will try to get an update available that will work.

I downloaded the OTA update and completely broke my WiFi - gutted.

So I downloaded the updated ROM from XDA-Developers and flashed Desire with the new ROM.

When rebooted, I was greeted with a request to enter an 8 digit pin to unlock the network.

I took the plunge and bought a code for $15, rather than downgrade the radio version as some had suggested....Means I can keep this code for future updates if it happens again and it means I have the latest radio version. :)

I wont be in the habit of upgrading often if this is what happens, so my next update will be the official FOYO.

recently broke my t-mobile desire and bought a new one network free last thursday , the new one had the most recent update already installed no problems with wifi the phone seems faster as well then my previous t-mobile.

Since doing the update my phone charges to 100% overnight, trouble is it drops to 85% or so within 1/2 hour, mobile internet on ,sync off ,nothing running in background.
Getting very fed up.

It's a well discussed issue that HTC are working on. It only happens if the phone is left on during an overnight charge.

So clearly something software related.

Iusually set it to Aeroplane mode to charge ,happy to see they are listening ,even if it is still a little wrong

My desire is unbranded and nor rooted or anything. The strange thing that I'm stuck on 1.15.
whenever I try to update I just get a message: "no update available" (or something similar).
read on some other pages in this forum that I should try to search for update not using wi-fi and then just switch to wi-fi when starting to download the update. Well I tried: didn't help.

So I'm still on 1.15 on my unbranded phone.

Any ideas?

once orange update is out there, someone should post it online so for warranty purposes we can flash back to orange and then give them phone in.

What's the official state of play with the latest update then? I know T-Mobile pulled it, but does anybody know why or when it will become available?

HTC are probably aware that many people have messed around with the phone firmware (e.g. rooting / de-branding) and this has caused problems with the HTC update.

They could be nasty and say tough luck, but more likely they have temporarily pulled the official update until they have a version that will work with de-branded images.

My battery life has taken quite a major turn for the worse since updating. Pre-update I was getting 16-18hrs comfortably, now I'm lucky if I'm getting 8hrs and that's with no more than using it as a phone.

Interesting.

I got a HTC Desire last week and received the 1.21.405.2 OTA update yesterday morning and today I received a factory fresh replacement phone, to try and solve a mobile network issue, and it already had 1.21.405.2 on it.

i have the same software (1.21.405.2) on my new desire purchased online from handtec on 10th june. is this the latest one everyone is talking about?

I have an unbranded unlocked Desire from 3 and i'm using a Pay as you Go Sim. Currently it's running version 1.15.405.4 and no updates appear when checking either on 3g or wifi.

A mate directed me to the 1.21.405 ROM for download RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.ex - xda-developers but when starting this it tells me it will wipe the phone clean of all data. This is something I'd prefer not to do. Can anyone confirm this is indeed the case for updating via USB in this way and that only an OTA update preserves all data and settings etc?

Cheers

There are backup apps available on the market that will backup your data before you flash. You can download them on the new rom then restore the data.

ive upgraded to the new firmware and sorry i did, Gps is realy poor, cant seem to keep a lock for too long, which in my view makes the gps useless and reading about htc pulling the update, as realy peed me off, lesson learnt , never update to soon, just waiting for htc to get back to me.

Has someone experienced when updating to 1.21.405.2 : the OTA will download then ask to install, reboots and start installing but about 3rd way through (green bar) it stops, red question mark comes up for while and reboot to normal state with old 1.15.405.4 ??

I've tried few times with same result.
I have unbranded, rooted, apps2sd and unlocked
Any suggestion?
