Help Desire HD(horror dream)

janfar

Newbie
I bought this phone a little over 2 weeks now. Cant say that their has been a full day where it hasnt shut down, freeze, continuously restart, automatically shut down apps etc. When it freezes I am forced to restart by having to remove the battery and then most times it would freeze at the HTC white screen and either stay there or give me black screen with a red caution sign. I tried soft reset, hard reset. The only thing i believe left for me is a wallet reset.

Anyone else has similar issues and can shed some light... For sure I am certain if i must return it I will not want it back...

Would the shop change it or would HTC have to do this themselves. This is an unlocked unbranded phone which I bought here in Italy. I think I will have to contact HTC again tomorrow about my issues and see how it goes.

Well, the phone should certainly be under warranty from HTC. But you ought to go to the company you purchased it from first. They may be able to replace it for you there and then, or they may handle sending it to HTC for you.

I don't know what they're legally obliged to do, but it's certainly worth asking them first.

Can anyone tell me what this means???

It depends what the local laws are in Italy. In the UK I would expect the handset to be replaced.
Italy is in the EU you are covered by EU consumer regulation the shop should just replace it or refund your money.

Naw... its a desire HD, just took off the lights so you could see the image without having to see my ugly face...

After this comes up nothing happens. Just stay like this till battery goes dead or i remove completely and change.

I know your handset is the DHD, but the pic that appears on your phone is of the original Desire.

I wonder if the software on your phone is for the original desire and that's what's causing your problems?

Either that, or HTC are lazy with their error pics.

HTC support is as good as the phone they sold me. They need to have the mobile in hand to be able to tell me what the issue is. Tomorrow I will go to the store which I bought it and try to have to replaced. Hopefully this would be possible and i can have this thread locked. If not I will have to send it for repairs and from what I have read on this forum so far this may well end up to be a 10 page rant...

Did you buy the phone new from a store or off someone who had unlocked, unbranded it themselves? Personally I'm guessing the original owner 'tried' to unlock/unbrand it, but being 2.2.1 it paperweighted instead.

Edit: Sorry, I see from your last post that you bought it from a store. And as I cant delete my post (well, I can't see how to) I'll just edit this post and say I don't know sorry.

gonna try to have it changed at the shop today... hopefully that goes smooth and i will have a new mobile... because HTC product support has contacted me again since my last series of questions with respect to repairs...

Update: HTC has not been the most help... called the Italian branch of the HTC customer support, selected 2 for english. Spoke to a well spoken young lady for about half an hour and after finally explaining that the mobile may need a repair she tells me to ship it to southafrica...

So anyways... got sick and tired of this and decided to try the rooting method just to see... had to downgrade it to 1.32... AND NOW IT WORKS...

Bloody 1.72 was the problem... needless to say i would be fully rooting the SOB today and telling HTC thanks for coming...

I get the same icon/error message when attempting to back-up my stock rom (that was flashed to the phone after rooting) on my DHD. So I'm guessing it's just lazy HTC.
