Desire Memory issue

ST83

Newbie
Hi there,
I seem to be having an issue with the memory on my Desire..I'm getting the low space warning, however I hardly have anything on my phone memory :s

My settings state I have 2.78gb available on my sD card and 16.09mb on my phone.
I only have 15 apps downloaded of which 9 are on the SD card - the others won't move. I regularly "clear data" from apps. I'd like to download more!
I hardly have any text messages saved, apart from one thread of 3000 messages that I'm slowly deleting my way thru!

Is this normal? :s

Yeah it's normal, apps on the sd ain't completely on the sd.
The one way to fix it permanently is root with an a2sd enabled rom or flash a custom hboot.

Have you seen the sticky on the Desire Tips and Tricks sub-forum about moving more of your apps to the SD card? Works very well. Also, have you checked that your contacts file hasn't got too big? There's a known glitch with regard to this. Not sure of the fix but it's on this forum somwhere. Good luck.

Not meaning to hijack the OP post but I have had this problem for ages too and constantly have to go into my settings and clear data/cache from various apps and now can't upgrade some of my apps as I dont have enough memory.

As I am due to renew my phone in 3 months I thought I'd come on here and see how this re-rooting thing works, hopefully its simple as I'm not very techy minded but if I mess up my phone I only have it for another 3 months before I'm planning on upgrading to the HTC sensation or whatever its called.

Finally the point about the contacts is a good one, my contacts are stored at 10.5MB...however I dont want to clear data as I'm guessing that will wipe my sim card???
