Desire, memory size not as advertised? (Also wildfire)

Hey guys, I have just noticed my desire memory size is not same as advertised.

On HTC site, it states

Desire
ROM: 512 MB
RAM: 576 MB

Wildfire
ROM: 512 MB
RAM: 384 MB
======


I have "Android System Information" App installed and app says

Desire
Max Internal Memory: 147.62Mo
RAM: 398Mo

Wildfire
Max Internal Memory: 175.12Mo
Ram 313Mo

So first why is internal memory not as big as advertise, and further more why the hell is it smaller then wildfire when it is meant to be same? Internal memory reported is not free space but max space if anybody is wondering.

The internal memory contains the operating system and bundled apps. It's a bit like when you buy a PC with Windows on it, it takes up some of your hard drive. The difference, and the cause of confusion here, is that it's not really showing you the maximum space, it's showing you the maximum space that is available to the user.
