Desire needs to to press power button when in lock screen to unlock

Hi guys i'm new here. Just changed to Android from Iphone 4. When my screen goes dark and locks itself after 1 min i can't bring up the unlock slider until i press the power button. None of the bottom buttons work. Is that normal? Its kinda annoying

Yes it's normal, this is how Android works

you can download Widgetlocker from the market. With this app you can customize your lock screen and you can select to bring the lockscreen up with all bottom buttons

I found it annoying too, but to be honest, after a week it will be second nature.

Widget locker allows you to use any of the hardware button to unlock the phone !

Theres also an app called Tap Tap App which sounds pretty nice. I haven't tried it because my Desire is not here yet

I have to say I purchased Widgetlocker and it is just what I was looking for, now everything has been moved to the track pad and I no longer have to use the power button except to turn the phone off!!!!
