Desire, no multi-touch input method (keyboard) ?

Hi,

My HTC Desire (Android 2.2) doesn't have multi touch input method with stock keyboard, or even with Android 2.3 Gingerbread Keyboard (installed from the market).

Even my old HTC Wildfire has it (Android 2.2).

When I tap a letter, if I tap another letter before releasing my finger from the first one it doesn't understand the second one.

The Desire specs say Desire has muti-touch input method.

Do you have any ideas what could be the reason? Or any idea to how to solve this?

Thanks

My Desire, running Android 2.3, using the default keyboard and/or Swiftkey X, allows me to hold one key and press another at the same time.

I'm not sure exactly what you are expecting it to do though. When I hold one key, it eventually gives me the symbol (not the letter). Are you thinking that typing fast causes you to miss some letters if your fingers presses overlap?

Your Desire has got multi-touch - it has pinch-zoom for example.

How it interprets the keypresses is, I would think, a function of the digitizer rather than the OS. The fact that you can do it on the Wildfire has no bearing on whether you should be able to on the Desire. I can think of no other keyboard situation where I would expect the OS to interpret simultaneous keypresses (apart from modifiers like CTRL/ALT/Shift etc).

Maybe type a bit more slowly?
