Root Desire not responding after root

So I finally decided to do the root, and followed the procedure advised by this forum.

After doing the 'update.zip' root and wiping the data I installed a ROM, this one: https://sites.google.com/site/dgbbravo/home

After everything installing succesfully and rebooting, I get the 'Welcome to HTC Desire' screen but on top of that is a pop up saying "Process %1$s is not responding'. Report. And then the button says: "The process %1$s has has violated its self-enforced strictMode policy."

And everytime I press it, it just pops right back up again. There's nothing else I can do, it just keeps popping up. So I went back to hboot and tried it again, but nothing, just did a full wipe, still nothing, deleted all the storage, still nothing.

So I'm getting kind of desperate. Anyone who can give me some advice? Am I ****ed?

Any details of your device would be useful that you can give.

Ok, I feel really bad now. I managed to put a different ROM on the sd card and it's fully functional again. Sorry for the rage and thanks for taking a look!

Just happy it's working again :D

All the same, would still like the information please since that was my Rom you flashed that didn't work.

Just the hboot information would be cool if you don't.mind please

I'd love to. What do you mean by hboot information? Kind of a noob here. I did the unrevoked root and then followed the process of having the update.zip, the wipe and then installed the root.

Sorry, but what is this "update.zip" you are talking about? Unrevoked will root the phone, and you flash the ROM from recovery, but I don't know what you mean by the "update.zip root" inbetween.

I realise that this may be just that you are being imprecise with the language because you are new to this, so don't read this as my being hard on you - that's not my intention. It's just that it sounds like you've done something I don't recognise, and given that you had problems I'm curious as to what that step actually was. update.zip is a (old-fashioned) way of applying an update through recovery, but it doesn't tell us what was in that update file.

For hboot information, boot the phone while pressing the "volume down" key. That will take you to the hboot screen - white with some skateboarding androids at the bottom. If you can tell us what it says at the top of that screen that will help. The first line, right at the top, in particular, but no harm in adding the device information below it.

Don't worry about it. It's from the xda guide:

If the above download is not suitable

OK, so you have a stock hboot. The first ROM (dGB) should install fine on that, though it's not making the most of the ROM, so that's not the source of the problem.

As for the rest, the bootloader version is the hboot version, so 0.93.xxxx in this case. So you don't need any of that stuff from the XDA guide (which is really old information). Unrevoked will already have done everything that did - the only question is whether that would have messed anything up? Anything it did to the ROM is gone now that you've flashed another, but could you just confirm what recovery you have?

(No urgency, I'm about to log off :)).

You'd probably be better off using the guides and faqs linked from the sticky post in this forum - they are better maintained and more up to date than that one.

I have the ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7

But I've been having different problems. My battery has been draining like crazy. It had gone flat today after a mere 5 hours or so, without really doing much. And as I looked at was using the battery the most, it looked like it was Google Services actually. And I had already noticed there was a refresh signal in the notification bar constantly turned on. So I'm guessing that was causing it, but there was no way to kill the full process. Tonight I haven't seen it again so maybe it's gone forever but I'd like to be sure;

Also, I'm pretty annoyed with all my social links (with the contacts) being gone. I had all my contacts backupped so I thought that would remain but it looks like they weren't saved. I knew Sense did this but I assumed this would still be there. Is there a way to get connections between the twitter/facebook accounts and my contacts back? Or do I really need Sense for that? If so, what would be the best ROM to get that back, but keeping the eyecandy of Gingerbread. I would really love that.

Oh and one more thing, the phone number my phone is displaying in the settings... it's not my number. I can still call, text, be called,etc... but it's just a bit weird that my number is not being displayed in the 'about section'. Could it be that this guy made a very personal ROM that had his number in there and this can't be changed?

Sorry about all the 'probably stupid' questions but I just want to be as sure as possible.

edit: Oh and one more thing, I can't seem to install the Youtube app :/ it's not in the market/play and when I try to do it through my browser, it says it can't be installed in my country... but it was always there before so that's kind of strange.

Phone number thing sounds really odd. Which ROM are you using? I've never seen that with any ROM I've used (though I may not have looked on all of them). I've also never encountered the "battery drained in 5 hours" thing. The battery history thing in the about phone menu should be able to identify what is using the power. Otherwise Quick System Info is useful - install it, select battery history, and check in particular for "partial wake usage" (i.e. what might be stopping the phone from sleeping). "System Panel" is occasionally useful for a real-time check of what's using the cpu. If you think a process has gone rogue and can't kill it you can always try rebooting the phone.

I'm afraid that FB/Twitter/Contact sync is something I can't help with - believe it or not I have neither a Facebook nor a Twitter account!. Hopefully someone else can advise on that.

As for YouTube, that is odd. What Market version do you have, and I guess what country are you in? But that should not depend on ROM at all - try "clear data" for the market app, I guess.

On the plus side, CWM 2.5.0.7 is a good answer to the recovery question. :)

The ROM is Nick's Phone V1.1 Based On Oxygen 2.3.2 as seen here: [ROM] Nick's Phone V1.1 Based On Oxygen 2.3.2 [05.03.2012] - xda-developers

I can't seem to find the battery history in the Quick System Info. I can see the current battery stats but nothing other than that. Is there something I might be overlooking?

No Fb or twitter? Pretty crazy but respect for not going with it. :)

I have the Google Play Store (3.4.6) and I'm from Belgium.
I just installed it through a 4shared link, thought it would go faster that way, but still, I'd like to have it properly working.

Woohoow so I do get a point! :)

In Basic Info there's a battery item. Choose that and then tap the battery history item.

From there you should be able to see what's what in usage history. You can choose the time frame of stats, to see if something has changed recently.

Well you get a stable and trusted recovery - that's worth more than a point :)

Hmm, not run Oxygen-based ROMs very often, but I do vaguely remember some information options not working with those. Too late for me to flash one to check, but I can't exclude the possibility of that being a ROM feature.

Belgium shouldn't be a problem, but Google Play Store is new today, so I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of that having bugs (I've just reinstated the market updater, so will see what happens with mine). If you took a titanium backup (or other app backup) before flashing, try restoring YouTube from that.

And you're calling me crazy? With that username :)
