Help Desire Not Syncing

swade1234

Newbie
Hi, iv had my phone nearly a year now and never really bothred with rooting or anything like that. Now reading into it, it seems its something id like to try. But the one problem is I cannot get my desire to sync. I have tried downloading htc of my memory card and my phone cannot find it. I have tried downloading it from the htc website and that still hasnt worked. Has anybody had this problem before and solved it? Im really stuck and its stopping me doing stuff to my phone which I really want to do, rooting and moving apps to sd card being the main ones. Thanks for any responses

I'm not clear what your asking. Is it that you can't install HTC Sync on you PC or is it that you've installed Sync but it can't find your phone?

If the former, what error are you getting? If the latter have you tried following the Tips at the bottom of this page?

HTC Desire - Application - HTC Sync for all HTC Android Phones & HTC Smart
Basically my phone isnt finding htc sync on my pc when it is there. Them tips arnt very clear.
2. Connect you Phone to the PC and wait 20 seconds for your phone to install HTC Sync on your phone.

How does htc sync install on your phone?

When I plug my phone in it is searching for htc sync and then its coming up on my phone screen "unable to find htc sync on your pc...." hope this has made it more clearer. Any help appreciated

It still doesnt find htc sync, I can plug my phone in and mount it as a disk drink no problem. I just cant get the two to work. It might sound like a firewall issue to some people but iv disabled that and its still not working. Iv used every usb port on my pc. Lost at what to try next

The phone connects to the pc as a disk drive, but I switch it to htc sync while its open on my pc, and it cannot find it

'it' is not a very good word when describing problems. 'it cannot find it' is totally meaningless.

As I understand it, you:

1. start HTC Sync on you PC
2. connect the phone
3. change the connection type on the phone to Sync
4. HTC Sync on the PC doesnot recognise the phone.

Correct?

Does HTC Sync have a 'scan' or 'add new phone' option? Have you tried that?

If not, the only options would be to uninstall and reinstall HTC Sync and the HTC drivers and/or factory reset your phone.
