Desire running MIUI gets errors phone memory almost full?

I'm puzzled. A few months back, I wiped my phone, rooted it, installed MIUI and used A2SD to get a larger "internal" memory.

Now, however, I'm constantly getting errors that my internal memory is almost full while, if I check my phone, it says:

A2SD+
457MB total space
308MB available space

SD Card
14.35GB total space
8.65GB Available space

I've been uninstalling apps left and right, moving them to the SD card but this buys me maybe a day tops before I need to start uninstalling more. It makes absolutely no sense - I cleaned cache for every program I can think of, checked them all and saw no abnormally high figures either so what could be wrong? And why does the phone say I got 300MB left and still throw errors my way?

What miui rom you using? I know with xj you hhave to activate a2sd+ with terminal emulator. It's in one of his first posts

To activate A2SD as mentioned above you need to download the "Android Terminal Emulator" and type:

su hit enter (you get # that means superuser has granted permission)
a2sd cachesd hit enter

The phone will reboot. Then download "Quick System Info" You'll notice an increase in your internal storage.

I did that - it's always worked fine.

I think I'm getting an idea of what is wrong - the A2SD+ partition is for storing apps but not cache and data I believe, for that you still need to rely on the internal memory. But something must be soaking up cache and stuff because I constantly have to remove more apps - now the question is, how can I discovered what is using cache?

I use MIUI 1.1.14 - Android version 2.2.1

Download "accleaner" from the market. It will breakdown app cache and clear it all for you.

SUroot is spot on. You might recover 20mb or more by using cache cleaner
I'll try that then :) I hope it won't delete vital info - cache is a bit of a grey area on PC where some store passwords and stuff in cache - if it's like that on my Desire, I'll be pretty annoyed :p

I moved everything from "SD card" to phone yesterday (which indeed did not affect internal memory negatively) AND I installed Quick System Info which shows me several types of internal memory:

System storage 130MB free (less than half of total)
Internal storage 48MB free (a third of total)
System Cache 18.84MB free (just little under half of total)

Seems weird that I'd have so much free - the memory messages stopped though - maybe it has to do with me pushing apps to the "SD card" + my battery usage is suddenly waaay lower - lately, my phone used loads of juice and now it used just 5% in 3 and a half hours with minor use.

I will try accleaner later!

Nope you wont lose any vital infos. Memory message is a strange one. Im kinda baffled by that but you done the right thing by moving it out of SD card.

As for your battery usage, normally it takes a week or two for rom to settle then you start experiencing good battery levels and it stays that way. Did you change your kernel or stick with stock MIUI kernel??
