Desire S screen any good in bright sunlight

Hi was thinking of getting the desire S. I use to have the original desire (amoled).

Does the screen completely wash out under bright sunlight like the original desire?

I haven't had the original Desire but the screen on Desire S is pretty difficult to see in bright sunlight. My Iphone 3GS is actually better in bright sunlight I'm afraid.

It's slightly better, but not brilliant. Not many of the new phone screens are that great in direct sunlight.

(NB I remember reading something about Apple advising iPhone users to avoid using their phones in direct sunlight because of overheating.)

it works, ok'ish, you do need to cover it over though and poss increase the brightness, managed to watch some vids whilst by the pool fine

One more question. Is the wifi and gps issues as bad as some people make it out to be?

I don't think so.

The wifi works will with me me, so long as you don't grip the top of the phone (the wifi 'death grip').

And the GPS works very well for me, too. Some have reported problems, but after its first, initial fix, it seems all subsequent uses of GPS work quickly, e.g., see this thread.

Increasing the phone brightness helps in direct sunlight. Maybe this is the purpose of adjustable brightness level.

I've had no problem with wi-fi nor gps since I've had my Desire S
