Desire to S2

G12bey

Lurker
Coming from Desire to S2, anyone having done the same, how does the reception fair in fringe areas?

Thanks...

I did this, and to be honest I am not regretting it one bit. The Desire is still an awesome phone but the speed and size of the SGS2 comes out top for me. Nothing on the SGS2 comes up short to the Desire in my view, wifi, reception etc are just as good exept maybe the Sense UI on the HTC.
My wife has my Desire and loves it.

Just done the same switch around 2 weeks ago and not regretted it one bit, reception seems just as good as the desire, few things bugging me (kies, lack of theme saving, internet pages don't re-jiggle words as smoothly as the desire) but all in all very happy. Pretty sure the above things are sortable either on here or through the next update. Lets hope Samsung are a bit quicker than HTC at bringing updates, they certainly couldn't be any slower!!! The desire will always have a place in my heart but this phone is rapidly growing on me :-)

One more thing, really, really miss the contacts widget from my desire, the one that was full screen and you could determine who shows up on it and what action the pressing does with the ability to scroll down the page. I really hope there is a version of this on the market somewhere but so far not found one. :-(

Alas I've found an app that is as good, if not better than the htc widget, it's called "animated widget" basically you create on your home screen an icon that when pressed opens up a magical array of your chosen contacts faces to be pressed and dialled. One cool thing about it is they all wobble if you shake the phone (and it's free) :D

Were you using the stock browser? Opera does the reflowing of text quite well actually.

I've used the stock browser, opera and I'm currently using dolphin hd. Found them all to have the same problem, if you double tap on the screen it reflow's the text fine but if you pinch to zoom it doesn't. Picky I know and got used to it now, just mildly irritating.
