Desire wont boot

So a couple of nights ago my phone was working the day after I went to turn on my phone, and it wont turn on. I dont get a boot screen but the phone does turn on and the back light turns on. Just getting a black screen. I dont see any places on the screen where it is cracked. i try to do a factory reset but turning the phone off pulling battery pressing volume down key and power key. the phone turns on vibrates one time and thats it. anyone else have any ideas. My cellular provider is going 4g here in like the next couple of weeks. and If i can get it up and running before then they are letting people trade there phones for a 4g phone and save me about 180 dollars. If you guys have any ideas i would love to try it.

So Im pretty sure some how my screen got effed up. I was watching tv and it sounded like a I got a message. went to move the unlock key down and I was able to adjust the volume. well thanks for the help.
