Hope so, but in the meantime, try out Fring - allows you to use a bundle of IM and VOIP providers (including Skype) all in the one app.
Currently using it on my Desire, and it works great - except for video calling. But that is probably be due to the fact I'm in TH and not on AIS 3G right now.
