Desperate For A Phone

I've been waiting for three months for the Samsung Galaxy S2 to finally arrive.

So far the only options I've heard about are importing a nerfed version from the UK that lacks NFC support, or POSSIBLY a version from India that may or may not have both the NFC and the SuperAMOLED screen.

I'm tired of waiting. How do I get the Samsung Galaxy S2 with SuperAMOLED and NFC? Or is NFC simply not an option, and I have to bite the bullet and go with the Nexus S, which has NFC and SuperAMOLED, but lacks a memory card slot?

Hey there, I am in the same boat as you. I also made a thread to ask people on WHERE to purchase an unlocked version of the S2 for use in the U.S. However, there are many resellers and vendors online.

Where did you hear about different versions of the phone lacking the NFC/SuperAMOLED screen?

The UK version doesn't have NFC. That's pretty much all over the place as far as knowledge.

The India version SUPPOSEDLY has NFC, according to Samsung, but DOESN'T according to this guy.

And I'm not paying $700 for a phone that *might* have NFC. NFC is what I want, it's available all over the place here in the States, right down to the gas stations.

Rumor has it that the version they might, maybe, eventually, perhaps, THINK about getting out in the States will have NFC, but will lack the Super AMOLED. They'll go for some sub-par LCD or somesuch.

Honestly, if I don't hear something in the way of good news in the next week or two, I'm buying a Nexus S. The wait is stupid, and the lack of NFC is stupid as well. *grumble*

Been waiting to get solid information here in South Africa. Sales consultant in store said phone is NFC capable, but when I phoned Samsung call center, the operator (who did not know what NFC was) said that it does not and does not know if and when it will come to South Africa.
For me this is a deal breaker as I see NFC picking up in a big way in the next year.
