Just try the install mate, if it works you dont really need to know what the rest means, well at least i didn't......;)

I am still in work, so haven't really got the opportunity to check what else could be wrong. Just wait and see if this solves the issue before worrying.

It is not an update. You will be using ClockWorkMod to install the ROM.

thats true.. was just curious... how much time will it take to boot after installation ? or rather how much time should i give it to boot ?

I honestly can't remember... it should not take too long though. I think I had to do a battery pull the first time I booted... don't worry if you do, as it worked as soon as I booted back up again :)

have it downloaded..... should i do a format i mean cache restore etc before installing ? anything else i should focus on before installing?

Always do a full wipe (wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition) when changing ROM's... it means you should not have any issues with the new ROM :)

I always do a complete wipe before any install mate - Factory reset, cache wipe and dalvik cache too. i think when i booted mine up, it took a bit longer than any others i have installed, 5 mins maybe.

As Steve says... it may take a little longer to boot up on the first go... that should not be a problem though :)

please please please.... Tell me about a few Roms i must try..... next will i have any problem updating with htc ?

Roms are down to personal preference, i prefer ICS roms myself, have gone back to sense Roms a couple times but always end up back on Ics.:)

If you have rooted your phone, you should not accept an OTA update from HTC, as it can brick the phone. As you have now installed a custom ROM on your phone, you would not get notification when a new version of HTC's software becomes available.

The ROM on your phone at the moment is an Ice Cream Sandwhich ROM - this is the most up to date version of Android. HTC are going to release ICS for the Desire HD, but not until July/August (I think). The ROM on your phone is vanilla Android... it does not have any of the HTC Sense overlay on it.

Your best bet is to play around with custom ROM's... there is a lot more support than from HTC, as they have to go through so much red tape when they release a new ROM.

If you want to try different ROM's, keep coming in here and checking what other people say... if you follow the link I posted earlier, you will be able to find a list of ROM's that you could try :)

I was exactly the same with CM7... haven't used a Sense ROM since I rooted (1 month after getting the phone)... as soon as CM9 is released for the DHD, that's the way I'm going :)

to be honnest im very happy that my phone is back and running again but the think is with such a good HD screen this dull display is less appealing at least to me......

I don't like HTC Sense (the UI that HTC put on the phone)... I prefer Vanilla Android. The beauty of being rooted is that you can try a different ROM each week (if you would like)... it is like having a new toy to play with each time and makes long contracts more bearable - when I signed up, I had to sign up for a 2 year contract...

I know of a list of different ROM's for the DHD somewhere and will see if I can find it and post it for you :)
