Root [DEV] Porting HTC Sense

Mobstergunz

Android Expert
Okay i would love to at least see HTC Sense on the Triumph before i move onto another phone as of right now i am working towards this goal

Port from Droid Incredible 2:

So far the Rom installs perfectly fine but will not boot past the Splash Screen when i pull an error report it stops at

I:Checking for extendedcommand...
I:Skipping execution of extendedcommand, file not found...

when i use adb on boot all that shows up is

- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -

here is the Rom if anyone thinks they can help get this booting/working

I'll spend some time on this tonight. If it's anything like the HTC device files there is a few things will need to change. I am working on taking the CM7 HTC device files and merging them with ours since our devices are pretty close to the same i.e. processor/video. My hopes is we will have a closer to normal build with CM7 instead of needing to make so many hacks to the default source code. Here is to hoping :rolleyes:

P.S. You going to keep your triumph or get rid of it? Sure be nice to have a dev phone!

OK I think I got it fixed. I can't test it right this second though. The issue is

- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -

By default we do not have a system/bin/sh directory on the phone. Instead we have symlink setup instead. I basically went in and updated the /META-INF/com/google/android/upsater-script

I removed line
set_perm(0, 0, 04755, "/system/bin/sh");

and added line
symlink("/system/bin/bash", "/system/bin/sh");

This is the same configuration on the Gingerbread ROM you made.

I just tried it and got the same errors so i

added the bash file to the bin folder

and added this line

but its still the same errors......

Sadly this ROM may never see the light of day as Mobstergunz has moved on to the Evo. There maybe other dev's that might pick it up, but hard to say.
