Root Development progress on Cyanogenmod7/9/10 Updated: 5/10

Please stop asking developers on increasing overclock pass 1.6 on the Elite. The main thing we should be focusing on is getting CM9 or CM10 working on the Elite before worrying about overclocking the device even further. ;)

Overclocking the Elite pass 1.6GHz could make it unusable due to the processor not really being at 1Ghz but instead being overclocked by the carriers just give it a performance boost. A device that orginally suppose to be at 800Ghz is just asking for trouble if we do try to go pass 1.6 GHz, which seems to be very stable for the device without putting much strain on it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The person who said you are only hope for getting CM on the Elite in this thread kind of hurt a few devs in this thread including myself because you must haven't read the pass 7 pages in this thread to notice how many fail attempts, and working on builds for 10+ hours just to get the beloved Elite everyone cares about a chance of new life. :(

I for one appreciate everything you and the other devs posting here are doing for this little phone. I can't do much to help but I'll be cheering from the sideline.

I'm looking into getting a one v and if so will donate my elite to a developer for others to maybe get cm10 one day if we don't soon enough lol

Overclocking the Elite pass 1.6GHz could make it unusable due to the processor not really being at 1Ghz but instead being overclocked by the carriers just give it a performance boost. A device that orginally suppose to be at 600Ghz is just asking for trouble if we do try to go pass 1.6 GHz, which seems to be very stable for the device without putting much strain on it.

Stock it is 800mhz, which is underclocked for typical setups with this CPU.
Stock, the ZTE Warp Sequent is 1.4ghz with the exact same processor. Now I don't know if there are variants, I'm just going off online info and this thread.

The problem here its everyone read the specs saying 800mhz when in fact it was an error on their behalf the phone uses the same processor as the triumph, warp, reverb, sequent, mt4g,xperia play, ect. The sequent and reverb come clocked at 1.4 while most come at 1ghz, I believe all but the two at 1.4 can be clocked up to 2ghz overclock. The elite seems to be like the one v another s2 that comes at 1 but only gets pushed to 1.5ghz territory. Why the oldest S2s o.c. To 2 the newer go only 1.5 and the newest come at 1.4 with no overclock is because most find an S2 @ 1.4 is most stable & reliable, and the 1.0s that O.c. Go to 1.5 is because most just run at 1.4 but there are the power users who got 1.8/245mhz settings set at boot which on my opinion right under 2 but maybe not 1.9 and a single core pulls some crazy scores such as mt4gs .. but my point is the phone is in the ranks of everything I listed not an 800 mhz like the older scorpion CPUs at 800 that o.c to 1.6 (double)

Most of the major names are in this thread, and I believe there are quite a few of us currently active on it. I know its alot of posts to read, but there is alot of good information in there ;)

Thread cleaned - let's review.

1. I work in semiconductor R&D - next time there's an argument about what overclocking does or what's ok - call me.

2. Here's the full list of people allowed to say who can participate in what thread -

3. There's a report button to the left of any post. If something makes you upset - use it. Do NOT clutter up the thread.

4. Posting is a privilege, easy to get, easy to keep. See the site rules in my sig. See the link from there regarding mod discretion, which I'm going to exercise right now -

  • All bickering in this thread is now officially at an end. :)
  • All requests for anything in the remote neighborhood of an ETA is now officially at an end. :)
  • All criticisms of devs, or anything that seems like it to me, in this thread is now officially at an end. :)
  • If you didn't take my advice and read our rules as I suggested, or what happens when you violate a moderator warning, that's on you. :p

Those are the words for today - read them, live them, love them. :) ;)

This thread has been cleaned. I'm thinking that it's going to stay that way.

In fact - it's nearly a certainty, one way or another. ;)

Cheers, thanks! :)

Wasn't it over clocked to 1ghz by the carriers to use Flash Player? I swore I remember that being said somewhere that 1ghz is the minimum to use flash player haha. I would PM you Julian but idk if you answer messages. I just wanted to make sure if ppl knew that little fact :)

The htc g2 is a 800mhz device that had flash player so I don't believe that's why its at 1ghz. The reason is because its a snapdragon s2 which is a 1ghz chip it was only falsely reported as an 800mhz device ..

Finally learned how to build cm7 but no WiFi and phone though.

I'd help but I'm more concerned with cm10... If I had better internet to download the source I'd help squash those issues... BTW... I built cm10 for the elite yesterday... device tree may be found here https://github.com/Team-Osiris/lge_m3s_device_tree... its not booting yet but thats expected... need to build a proper kernel first

Sweet device tree, Jet! Lol don't even know half of what I'm looking at but it's cool to see the guts of what's going on.
You said this was for CM10, though I'm just wondering there's references to CM7 in the build? Are you just implementing things from CM7 to help with CM10?

I simply modified rukins cm9 device tree and tailored it to produce an entire cm10 build... I'm going clean it up as I continue working... just wanting to let you guys know we arent just sitting around

Oh, believe me I totally figured you were just getting everyone worked up, when in all reality you were just sitting around laughing as we all fall helplessly into your evil little ploy awaiting the ultimate let down.:p
