Help Device memory full

kobi1988

Hello everyone,
I asked this question before, but I hope that with the photo it'll be clearer..
I have no idea why my device memory is so low... I hardly have any applications as you can notice, and still my available space is very low.
I downloaded every possible clean-up apps but they mostly work on the USB storage, in which I have lots of space.
I thought it might be a bug in 4.0.4 version, so I updated today to 4.1.2, but it doesn't solve the problem...

Any ideas? I can't install any apps :/

Ok... I downloaded DiskUsage.
It says: Applications - 380 MB
Free space - 213MB
System data - 1422 MB

Now how do I know what this "System data" means? where is it located? how do I clean it up?

Data of the OS, also data of email and sms/mms.
You'd clear your email's trash can ... but this might free just 20 or 30MB.
Maybe a lot of pics and movies on MMS?

Sorry, no idea what makes your system data so big.

Harry

I have Gmail account, so my email messages are not stored on the phone.
I almost never use the messages app of the Android. I mainly use the Whatsapp, which all of its media is stored on the USB storage.

You thing that resetting to manufacturer settings might help? Maybe it's some kind of a bug?

Dalvik cache is where your app data is stored, as you are rooted im assuming you will have CWM recovery, to get into recovery turn off your phone and the powr up by holding home - power and volume up at the same time.

You will then be presented with a menu, use the vol keys to scroll up and down and the power key to select.

Scroll to wipe cache partition and select, you willbe taken to a second screen to confirm your selection

Then scroll to advanced and select, scroll to wipe dalvik and select, then confirm on the next screen, once this has been done scroll to go back, select and then reboot system.

There are multiple reasons as to why this occurs and sometimes its easier to bite the bullet and reflash your firmware to see if that fixes it

These are the instructions given in that thread.
I did wipe cache partition, but I didn't have "advanced" section...

I guess I have an official ROM and thus don't have this option.

Thanks for this thread..! But maybe you have an idea what to do from here?

From the keypad, enter *#9900#
From the options that gives you, go for #2

I.e. delete dumpstate/logcat

This gave me 1Gb back.
