Bell mobility gave me an unlock code for a samsung s2 I9100M gingerbread for $50. I couldn't get it to work despite numberous calls and emails to them. I never tinkered with the original bell firmware.
Instead, I updated to jellybean via Kias thinking the code would work but it didn't.
Rooted the phone as per instructions on this forum via oden, busybox. Tried the unlock software as suggested in these forums but nothing worked until I tried GalaxSim Unlock. Paid the $4. Worked within a few seconds.
