Root dgb kernels

Newbie
Hi there,

Tried flashing dgb to my desire, looks good. Was wondering whether I need to do anything about kernels or if that's just a choice to make regarding power management and such like?
So basically how important is it to flash a different kernel?

Cheers for your help,
Hottomato.

There are a few apn backup apps in the play store - just grab one of them.

And as has already been said, the kernel with the ROM is fine (it is indeed a ManU kernel).

I wasn't sure, it has been a while since i last read about dGB

Pretty much made the jump to dGB. Just been reading all through the thread on xda about it, just to make sure there's no known issues with any apps.

Only one question remains, say I want to go back to my current (stock) Rom.
Where do I find a stock hBoot image?

Cheers

Hottomato

Thanks very much guys. :)

One more, when restoring apps with titanium I don't have to restore "apps+data" I can just do "apps" if I want?

Hottomato

You can if you want. Most want to keep their settings etc so would go for apps+data. Trick is not to restore system settings of any sort, just user apps and their data.

Thanks for the reply.
Every answer leads me to more questions, but I think I get that.

On another note, is it possible to keep my old user dictionary?

Many more thanks,

No, it's from the stock keyboard (which i would like to keep somehow, not worked out how...some more reading is needed).
Currently I've been using multiple keyboards, stock for general use and "hackers keyboard" for ssh due to it having modifier keys.
dGB has whatever fitted (in the ROM) as it was never meant to be used...so no comlaints there!
I just didn't want to have to teach it all again.

While I realise that my knowledge isn't as comprehensive as it could have been (read got bored of using the search button)
Had a lot of market crashes in dGB when restoring from titanium on non system apps. It seems to be fine if I install from market then restore data from titanium.
wondered if this is because all my backups are from froyo rather than GB?

And finally had a couple of issues with bluetooth sharing on dGB, any ideas?

Thanks again guys,

Hottomato

ps. should I be posting these issues somewhere else in the forum?

dGB is a Desire-only ROM, so this is the right place to post.

Re Titanium restores, could be. I had no problems but had been on various non-Sense GB ROMs before.

The toolbox thread (useful downloads) linked in the Desire All Things Root Guide sticky post, has a download link to a version of the HTC keyboard (IME) that you can use with dGB. The username for downloading is androidforums, password can be found near end of thread. You won't be able to just restore the HTC keyboard from Ti I'm sure.

As for restoring keyboard data, don't know. I'd suggest taking a nandroid before trying to do this, just to be safe, though I'd expect that clearing data for the app would fix any problems.

Finally, what BT problems? I don't use BT much but it has always worked for me. If you describe the problem maybe someone will know.

Ah yes, the toolbox. Didn't see the keyboards in there, thankyou.

I couldn't share a photo via BT it just kept failing. However I have only tried sending it to the one device, so I'll do some more testing on that.

Cheers

Hottomato

edit: think the BT issue was to do with pairing. Most likely user error I thnk.
