Help dhd and media link problem

Has anyone else got this problem! I've only noticed this problem since the 2.3 update! Here goes! Everytime I make a video using my she my HTC media link says 'unable to play video file's it use to play all my camera videos now it will only play videos that I download! Also I've noticed all my videos are dated 1-1-1900! Please help!

Same problem for me. I raised the issue with HTC but after several emails backwards & forwards, it fizzled out with absolutely no resolution. Its a real pain as the videos that were taken before the gingerbread update worked fine.

I've noticed a ROM update on the HTC website that refers to the media link adapter but can't work out how to install it.

HTC Media Link ROM Update

The readme file talks about updating the phone, but the description talks about the Media Link. It also mentions "Tube" which I assume to be the original working name for the media link adapter. Its all a bit sloppy by HTC.

If you have any joy, please post your results.

Thanx for that dog! I thought I was the only person with this problem! I've tried factory feasts on my dhd and my media link and nothing! When I phoned HTC the guy said he couldn't help me! The best customer service I've ever experienced!

Harry, I tried that but it didn't recognise it. But I'll give it another go. I have noticed a few threads on German forums with the same problem. Tried to work out what they were talking about via Google translation. No resolution over there, they mention something about HTC changing the HD video format.

I had same problem since May.
After 29 replays !! to the HTC support center finally I received also the information about an upgrade and had the same problems with this confusing installation instruction. However I succeeded to download the update and tested streaming from the DHD to Ml with old and new files. There was no problem for the ML to recognize the files but it took a lot of time of transferring and buffering with stop and go.
a 20 sec 28MB HD file needed after some transfer time 80 sec. buffering before playing than 1.stop after 14 sec. play for 2. stop and sometimes a 3. Stop for buffering. As I can recall this was not the case with the

Hi yawningdog, the above are not quite how I'd phrase the solution so here goes.
First download the rom update utility (ruu)from the link everyone has mentioned onto your pc.
Open the utility but don't tick the I agree box yet.
Holding the power button down on the Media Link itself (not the phone as it suggests) and connect it via usb to your pc .You should see the light flash red & green before letting go of the button.
My pc gave me a searching for drivers/device is now ready to use message.
Then tick 'I agree' in the ruu and proceed as with any other install. It takes a few moments detecting current version and then asks if you want to update.
Click yes and I think it says it'll be 10mins but it was more like 5 for me.

My results, my Desire HD videos now play instead of giving the 'cannot read MIME type' error. A vid shot on an I-phone no longer plays, no loss for me.2 DHD vids don't work(audio only) but that may have more to do with a recent unexpected reboot the day of filming.Buffering on all content is 2-3 secs.
Haven't tried anything else yet, will update if needed.

Hope that helps:)

Hi Stuntdave thanks for that. I'll give it a go..... Update, installed fine, thanks for help. All working ok now. No thanks to HTC's customer service.
