Root DHD help!

FIonut

Lurker
Hi! My english is not very good. I will try to explain my serious problem in hope to find a solution.
I have an DHD and it's stuck in bootloader. In FASTBOOT appears PD98IMG.zip wrong image. I tried FACTORY RESET and nothings happened. I start to searching for RUU-s, to put them on my card with name PD98IMG.zip. In right corner start loading a blue bar, then a yellow bar after that error CID wrong. I used Ace Advance Hack to make S-OFF, SUPER CID and other stuff.. failed, must have USB DEBUGGING check on phone. I have install in PC AMT and SDK Manager, nothing. An other software WinDroid Universal HTC Toolkit for flash rom, failed again. For 2 days I read about this problem but I did not found solve. I think, if i find an original RUU for my CID with same radio, renamed as PD98IMG.zip and put it on my sd card, maybe it will work.
Yesterday I tried to install RUU_Ace_O2_DE_1.38.207.1_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155961_signed.exe , copy rom.zip from temp file, renamed as PD98img.zip and put it on card. When update start i found an other problem..bootloader - fail-PU (partition update fail!).

How can i fix it?

Hello, FIonut, welcome to Android Forums! :)

Sorry you are having issues. It's been a long time since I had my Desire HD and I never had your problem.

Did you say you used the AAHK to get SUPER-CID, as it appears that you have a carrier branded CID? Are you in Germany, as the RUU you have been trying is for O2 Germany?

From what I remember, an ruu is an .exe file that you run from your computer, while your phone is plugged in - no need to rename it and try and flash it on the phone.

Hi! Thanks for answer! My name is John. I downloaded the exe files for the cid that i have, run it, but after a while appears error 170 or something like that..usb debugging not checked on phone, so i copy from C:\Users\Ionut\AppData\Local\Temp a file named rom.zip, renamed as the file i need (PD98IMG.zip) and put it on sd card. Start phone, bootloader - fastboot- vol down...start checking sd card (blue bar), verify files (yellow bar), then appears a screen and ask me to press vol up for update. I press vol up but in bootloader right screen with red letters fail-PU. I spoke with guys from different forums but nothing work. They said to use germany cid because my cid is o2_102. If you have a better solution, please tell me how to do it. Sorry, i'm from Romania and sorry for my silly english.

No need to apologise for your English! ;)

I don't think that it is as simple as copying the rom.zip - if you can hang in there, I am sure that our resident HTC expert will be along soon :)

It is possible that memory rom be damaged?

I do not think there is a prollem with the memory, you are simply having issue with the securities of an s on phone. I believe the hboot partition update is failing because hboot is newer than the version you're trying to install, and there is no main version for the phone to check.

I have a couple questions:
1) is your cid 8 characters? Maybe there are 3 underscores... It's hard to tell

2) did you star our your model id,or is this how its being displayed? If you added the ***'s ,what is your model id? Don't worry, this not personal info unique to your phone.

3) does your bootloader display a big pink locked at the top of the screen?

Oops one more question:

4) how did your phone come to be in this state? I'm unsure if the aahk is the cause,or if you attempted to run it as a solution. Any info you can provide about how the phone arrived in its current state would be helpful :)

D-U-R-X thanks for the info, looking at it on the PC(vs my tablet) its a little more apparent there are the 3 underscores. the reason for the question,is that if the model ID is being displayed by the phone with the asterisks, then that is an indicator that at some point an xtc clip or java card has been used with a factory DIAG file to "clean s58 data",wich would have also resulted in s off and supercid. i was a bit afraid the phone had been s-offed in this manner and then someone had attempted to return it to stock, but entering the wrong cid  cid is always 8 characters,so if someone had changed it to O2__102 instead of O2___102 prolly no ruu would be able to run, even a correct one.

FIonut i had seen your getvar all above, and it hadnt answered the questions, thats why i asked them ;) we have #1 answered, but just make sure we are all on the same page, your model ID is displayed with the asterisks, correct? you have not added the asterisks to hide the true model id,is this correct?

moving forward, there are 3 possible solutions, wich we can go into greater detail later, assuming there is no hardware failure.

1)find someone with an xtc clip to s off your phone. as long as it will go into hboot, this will work, and will result in s off and supercid(and sim unlock),so you will be able to run any ruu that you wish without any security checks.

the xtc clip is common now,as it only works with older devices,so its price has come down quite considerably, and lots of cell phone shops will use them to sim unlock the phone,so there is a good chance you can find the service close by for reasonable price.

here in the us we have "craiglist.org" wich folks list for sale goods and services,if you have that or similar in your area,it can be a good source.

2)if you have another android phone that is booting and working, you can make a gold card. this will eliminate the cid and mid checks that the phone is doing, making it a bit easier to find an ruu that will work. the first part of the directions in this thread are going over the gold card creation: http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...-s-off-simunlock-supercid-inspire-4g-dhd.html

3)unlock the bootloader via htc dev. this will let us install a recovery, wich we can use to try and install a custom rom,and will also give us an option to use adb commands. unfortunately, you do not have a compatible bootloader currently,so you will need to install a new one, wich is available on htcdev's website. baSIC directions available here: http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...-how-unlock-install-recovery-root-htcdev.html

the process to unlock and install a recovery can be done without a booting phone. you will just have to skip the parts of the directions using adb commands(adb xxx) start the directions in each section by putting the phone manually in fastboot, and starting at the fastboot devices command

#1 would certainly be the easiest on you,as all youll need to do is take the phone somewhere, have the securities turned off, then come home and pick an ruu to run. id prolly choose this one: AndroidRUU | The #1 source for Android RUU files

im off to work,so holler if you have any questions and we will try to clear things up for you :)
