Help DHD Locking Up While Idle

Hi everyone. I am having a problem with my DHD that has been happening since I got the phone back in July 2011.

Periodically, the phone will lock solid while it is idle and the only way to unfreeze it is to pull the battery out. Calls, texts, etc. will not come through, and I have no way of knowing if the phone is locked up unless I check it. I thought the phone used to be completely powered off when this lock up happened, but one time it happened I had the flashing green light up top to let me know that I had a missed call/text, but I was not able to power up the screen to view it. I had to pull the battery to unfreeze the phone.

Has anybody ever had this happen to them? I have been putting up with it for a while now, but today I missed a rather important call and I cannot afford to have this recurring.

Here are the details on my DHD:

Android version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense version: 2.1

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

That was also the time of the GB update I think. Was it happening before that?

If I recall correctly, when I got the phone it did not have Ginger Bread installed, so the install happened automatically on the first day I was using the phone.

This problem started happening on about the 2nd or 3rd day I had the phone. I never really had an extended period of where it never happened, installed apps, and then it started.
 
If it's been like that from the start, I'd say you have a faulty handset tbh. It might be worth giving your network/HTC a call, see if they can arrange a replacement?

You could try a factory reset (which they'll probably suggest anyway), see if that makes a difference?
