Help DHD Not Opening PDF's

Bedroom Eyes

Well-Known Member
So recently I've been noticing that my DHD has had some issues with loading/downloading PDF files from specific websites/services. Mainly a website that is widely used throughout my University; Moodle. I used to never have issues downloading PDF files from this resource, now, however, whenever I click a PDF to download through Moodle, the page seems to just "reload" itself, and no download is started.

Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? It's not hugely essential, but being able to access class files while on my phone, instead of carrying my laptop everywhere was a huge bonus.

Note: I've tried updating any Adobe apps/plugins I have on my phone, but to no avail. I haven't changed any settings within the default browser (to my knowledge). Also, I'm not rooted, and don't plan on rooting, so getting another browser such as Chrome or Firefox is out of the question.

1. Moodle. I don't like Moodle. -_-

2. Why does not being rooted prevent you from switching browsers?

3. I would've thought the problem would be solved with the use of a pdf reader, but you cannae download the stuff either....

I'd say try another browser or clearing the data/cache of your current one.

Tried it again with dolphin browser and pretty much the same thing. It would open a new tab as if it were about to download but nothing would happen. Haven't deleted internet data, but I think the dolphin test confirmed it's not the apps having a problem.

Also, my friend's S3 can open/download moodle PDF's just fine..

Is it possible that the Moodle server misrepresents the file size before download and you lack that space? I know.... I'm grasping at straws. Is anyone else having trouble getting the files or have you tried to download the files from a different device? One other thought... you say the page refreshes but doesn't download. That is how a page acts sometimes when you already have the file. Is it possible that you have files of the same name existing on your phone? You might try purging your browser history and remove or move existing files from the default download folder. Best of luck to you. I hope you can find a fix for a strange problem.

A friend of mine has had no issues downloading them.

Also, cleared the Internet data from my phone and the problem persists.
