Hmmm. I am unsure as I used the AAHK ages ago.
I would think that the sim unlock is included in the one step root.... Not sure how else you can do it in the kit.

I recall a tool by jkolo on XDA which gets radio s off ( same as ship) and also sim unlock... I don't know if you can use it on a pre rooted device...

Mehta23 is correct... Using the AAHK would give you SIM UNLOCK, amongst other things.

Am having some issues with my internet connection here and am up early, but will try help out a bit if nobody else has given you more info when I'm back tomorrow! :)

Ok just an update i loaded pd98img.zip onto the sd card and ran aahk again this time with no errors. the simlock seems to have gone but no servive provider is detected?
I would like to put on ICS but need to know that the simlock is ok first.
thanks

If you put in a different network sim, does the phone accept it?
Try going into settings, then wireless and networks, then mobile networks....
There should be something which says select network automatically. Change this to manual and then pick the correct one for your sim.....

It seems to accept different sim ok where as before it was asking for a network unlock code I did try going into settings, then wireless and networks, then mobile networks to select network manually but it did not seem to find any and was a bit baffled to why.
Will have another look at it in the morning in the meantime any suggestions should be good.
I think we're nearly

Your phone shouold automatically pick up the network from the SIM card (never had to search for it myself, apart from when abroad). You may not be able to use mobile data, as you would have to set up the APN's for your network.

I could not seem to get a network as i kept getting "error while searching for networks" so i decided to install IceColdSandwich-8.2.AOKP-signed.zip to see if that would help it installed fine but still no network.
is there an updated radio i can install to help as i have seen some posts about this but am not quite sure how to do this i am in the uk.
thanks

What network was the phone on and what network are you on? Where did you get the phone? What firmware was on the phone originally (as in was it Sense 3.0 or was it still Sense 2.X)?

Hi the phone was on orange and i am on o2 the phone was my partners she has just upgraded to a samsung galaxy s3. i think the phone was on sense 3.0 it was running gingerbread but not sure what version of firmware it was on, i think hboot was a 2. something if that makes any sense

Sorry that my replies are a little patchy... I'm at work and the internet is playing up!

I rooted my mate's DHD (it didn't have the update that came out a couple of months ago with Sense 3.0) using the AAHK and then ran an unbranded RUU, so that his mate could use an O2 sim card in the phone.

If you were to use the RUU (an exe file that you run from your PC) to put you back on to non-branded stock, this would put a more up to date radio on... you would then be able to re-root (not using the AAHK, as you are S-Off now) and install custom ROM's. It is worth maybe running the stock ROM (that you will have after using the RUU) for a little while, to ensure that the phone is working, before going ahead with going back to custom ROM's :)

Knew I'd seen this somewhere... if you run the RUU and return to pretty much the most up to date stock unbranded version of HTC's firmware (can provide a link if needed when I get home) and then (I'd say after a while and you're happy that the phone is working) you'd do this :)

What you need to do is download the Sense 3.0 RUU on to your PC. Then you plug your phone in via USB and run the RUU.

The RUU has instructions... do this, then click "next" - you follow all the steps and it does everything for you. It pushes the stock firmware/recovery/radio/etc to the phone and will mean that your phone is unbranded. The phone will remain S-Off, Super CID and still have SIM UNLOCK.

Once you have returned the phone to stock, you will be able to see if you get signal... could even be worth running as is for a little while to see what your signal is like in general.

When you are ready, you can follow the steps in the thread I linked above :)

ok I down loaded and ran the program it gets as far as preparing setup and gets to about 100% of the install shield wizard and then just closes with no explination or errors
i am runing windows xp pro

Can't remember for sure, but think you have to uninstall HTC Sync and maybe disable anti-virus on the computer... will have a quick look for you now!
