Help DHD Speaker not working after downgrade

Lurker
I have a Desire HD. It was not rooted and in Ginegrbread when I decided to root it and install custom roms.

First, I tried to downgrade my phone as suggested (at that time) in Cyanogenmod website instructions. I got stuck up in that process because of invalid CID problem and DHD was not booting up.

Then, I used the Advance Ace Hack kit to root. It solved my booting problem and also rooted the phone sucessfully.

Before I used the Hack kit, I dropped my phone once or twice by mistake.

The hack kit first downgraded my DHD to Froyo(I think) . During that time, I think the speaker was not working (not sure).

Then I rooted the phone by using Hack Kit and tested the following ROMS MIUI 2.8.3, MIUI 2.8.10, MIUI 2.8.24, Blackout ICS Incredible v3.0.0 CM7.2, and MIUI 2.4.13.

In all these ROMs, I noticed that the speaker was not working. I am unable to hear ringtones, songs in music players etc via the speaker.

Earpiece works and I am able to take usual phone calls. Headsets work and I am able to hear notification sounds, songs etc.

In MIUI roms alone, if I go to Sounds settings and adjust the Bluetooth volume(only MIUI 2.8.*) or Voice Volume, then a music is played and also any other background music (like a song playing in music player) can be heard. The volume of these is not very high but audible.I am not sure whether this music is played from earpiece or the speaker near camera.

I am compelled to believe that the speaker is not working due to a hardware problem because phone fell down. But, the music played by MIUI ROMs during sound setting change is creating some doubt in my mind. I want a second opinion. Has anyone faced this kind of speaker problem with custom roms? Is there any way to solve this issue? Is there any diagnositic tool? Please suggest some ideas.

TIA

Tbh I've never heard any speaker problems with the roms you mention. I've flashed many custom roms now and not had any problems with the speaker at all. I guess by dropping it you have damaged the speaker. Some custom roms do produce louder than normal max volume which I think this is what you're hearing. By any chance do you have your phone paired to a bluetooth device? Just mentioning it because some DHD would lose speaker after pairing/using it with a bluetooth device,
