Root DHD stuck on boot screen !! HELP !

I recently flashed MIUI 1.8.12 which was working all fine. I wanted to add more languages to the ROM so I downloaded a Multi Language zip file from XDA website and just flashed it through recovery (I think this wasn't to be done?). After that, I hit the reboot phone option and the phone is now stuck at the boot screen. HELP !

EDIT: it did show while flashing that Dalvik and cache are being wiped.

Pull the battery out and reinsert.

Hold the volume down button, then turn it on. You should be taken to the HBOOT screen. From there, select recovery and you'll be take in to clockwork. You can restore a backup or reflash MIUI.

I remember when I flashed miui, that you needed to flash the language pack right after it without reboot. That could be your problem. Not 100% sure though.

What El P said. Don't worry you haven't borked your phone. Just a case of starting from scratch unless you have made a nandroid backup prior to flashing the language patch.

This is exactly what I've done. So how do I flash/apply this language zip file then?

It looks as though you just flash it via clockwork as you did.

If it wipes caches as part of the install, try not wiping caches before you apply the zip?

Right here is a suggestion as the MIUI you are trying to flash doesn't appear to be agreeable with your DHD.

[ROM] MIUI 1.8.12 v.2: Freshly Squeezed Edition™ 13/08/11 - xda-developers
Download the ROM and KERNEL from here.

Get your RTL Arabic Patch here:
xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] MIUI 1.8.12 v.2: Freshly Squeezed Edition™ 13/08/11

Download the tool in this link to ensure the MD5 Checksums match: (I'll bet I'm right in guessing you didn't bother to match these on the last ROM/Patch you tried to flash most common reason for getting stuck at the bootscreen)
https://rapidshare.com/files/3205308002/MD5_CHECK.zip

Then move these to your SD via a laptop with a card reader as its easier than pushing them.

I'd then suggest a thorough read of the FAQ relating to this ROM here:
xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] MIUI 1.8.12 v.2: Freshly Squeezed Edition™ 13/08/11

Power off (Remove battery if you have to)
Power on with vol- and power button together.
Choose recovery using vol- or vol+ button followed by the power button once highlighted.

Once in recovery:
As above select factory reset.
Then do a dalvik/cache format/clean.
Select install zip from sdcard then choose zip from sdcard from the main recovery screen
Apply the ROM
Repeat and Apply the Kernel and go back to the main screen to reboot system now
Once done wait a minimum of 10 minutes for the ROM to boot properly.
Once your booted up go back to recovery and flash your chosen RTL/Arabic patch
Boot up again.

Should then be good to go.

Thanx for the comprehensive reply mate :)

Actually I have already flashed the Arabic support patch and that's working fine. This thread I created for adding additional languages in the 'Language & Keyboard settings' in which at the moment I only see three choices: English (US), Chinese and another chinese version. And this is where I get error when flashing the Multi Language pack zip file.

But never the less, really appreciate your help ! CHEERS

So your ROM boots fine without the patch when you restore your backup??

If thats right have you checked the md5 checksum on the lang pack to see if it matches or needs downloading again? If it doesn't match on more than one occasion the file stored server side would appear to be corrupt and the author needs to be informed.

If it matches and still doesn't work a quick PM to the author or a post on their bug tracker would be an idea if they have one.

auser on the XDA forum seems to know his stuff in regards to MIUI although he can be temperamental with his replies if you don't include the bases you've covered in your questions.

Yup it boots fine without the patch. I didn't check the md5 though. Will surely PM the author to see what he has got to say about this.

Can you tell me if I can switch off the 'Enable data access over Mobile network' option PERMENANTLY? it keeps switching back on after I have disabled it. Don't really want to over use my data connection and get a hefty bill at the end of month.

To stop data go to: MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS & NETWORKS then untick Mobile Network.

If that doesn't work go to your APN list and open up your APN via MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS & NETWORKS>MOBILE NETWORKS>ACCESS POINT NAMES and remove the * from the APN Type field. Also untick ENABLE ALWAYS ON MOBILE DATA via MENU>SETTINGS>WIRELESS & NETWORKS>MOBILE NETWORKS.
