Help DHD sutting down

01gringo

Newbie
my desire has suddenly started to shut down on a regular basis. i'll start it up and it loads up until the apps start to appear on my main page, then it shuts down again. tried the same with it it powered via a lead from a computer and it seems alot more stable, it still does shut down but alot more infrequent. Any idea's as to whats causing this?

Have you installed any apps recently? It may be worth powering it up and removing any apps that you have installed since it started playing up to see if that corrects your issue...

right, removing the last few apps seems to have improved things a little, phone is still shutting down, but then starts up again. This was not happening before, it was just shutting down. But upon trying to use it it shuts down and restarts. Maybe a factory reset next?

Ok, just got my phone back from htc after being sent there for repair.
Still do the same, switching on, loading up to my homescreen then shutting down again, grrrrrrr. Before i start to complain to them could it be that a knackered battery is causing it? Left phone on it's charging cradle all night, and it was working when i took it off, a couple of minutes of running via the battery and problems start. Just a thought!

Is the SIM seated correctly? That's been a cause of a lot of random shutdowns on a number of DHD's. Take it out, wipe it a little and make sure it's wedged in tightly.

Hi, thanks tried that with the sim, still no good!!Just been sent back to htc today, if no good on return I've been promised a replacement. We shall see.

Grrrrrr, 3rd time now it's been sent out and three times it's not been working. Don't they check before sending repairs out!!!
Now being sent a replacement, not a new phone but one they mak up out of new parts in the repair shop!!! we shall see!

Not having much luck really... I feel for you, but at least you're getting a replacement!! You'll have to let us know how the refurbished one behaves!!

Ok, thats it, I've completely had enough of all this. I've just received the so called replacement phone and it is behaving exactly the same. Stuck in a boot loop!!!
I've just ordered a replacement battery, but before i smash the bloody phone up the wall, can any confirm for me whether a knackered battery can be causing this issue. If they have replaced the phone like they said, the battery is the only constant in the situation i find myself in, and when the phone is connected via cable to a power source, it works fine.
cheers
John

Dear, oh dear... that doesn't sound great John!!

I'm not sure if the battery would be the cause of your problems - it does work when plugged in though, so it could sort your issues to have a new one!

Have you spoken to HTC to complain again? They could end up sending you a new battery for free?

Hope you eventually get sorted!!

We touched on the SIM a few posts ago, have you tried another SIM? There's no harm in changing the battery either, if it's the only other constant.

I'm not sure how you'd stand legally but if it still fails you might be able to get a completely different handset altogether.

I'm going to be watching this with great interest as my HD is doing the same thing & I'm going to try a new battery.

Well got a new Andida 1800mAh battery & my phone has been perfect since with a greatly improved battery life
