Help Did I kill my phone ? HTC Desire C

Hi Everyone
I need some advice, Today I think I killed my HTC Desire C and I'm feeling very depressed. I usually keep it in its protective case but today I took it out because a new headphone jack would not fit correctly while in the case.
When I put the phone back in the case I put it in upside down this resulted in the start button being depressed constantly for some hours until I noticed my mistake now the phone won't start. I tried the usual, took out the battery and sim, tried a factory reset etc, nothing seems to work ! have I killed my phone ? any advice would be appreciated ...Thanks :)

Hi RunThemJobs and welcome to Android Forums. :)

What do you mean by the start button being depressed? You mean as in it was being constantly pressed down? If it happens to be a hardware issue and not software I would take it to have it either fixed if it's under warranty. :)

The case, hard pastic back and leather is designed exactly for the Desire C, and it's a tight fit, because it was upside down the start button was being pushed down by the case just like I was holding it down with a finger for some hours(2). no it's not under warranty !

Thanks for the welcome, as you may have guessed I'm not a regular forum user.

How did you do a factory reset if it won't start? It has to at least get into recovery for that.

Do you mean it won't boot into Android?

How long did you take the battery out for? Give it a couple of minutes to be sure everything is cleared.

No problem man, it's all good. :)
If the start button was being pushed down for so long than it's recessed then. Does really pushing down on it cause it to work?

Hi
I followed instructions from web ...to hold volume button down and then power button for ten seconds .....this should bring the phone to life and give factory reset options. I did this while phone was blank but no result !!

Hi hadron ...I have had the battery out for 15 minutes, I'm going to leave it out over night but I have my doubts as to whether this will have the Desired effect.

I'm not sure of this at all but my feeling is that holding the power button down for a long period 2hrs should not have caused any irreversible damage to the phone. Of course I could be totally wrong and the phone may be ruined.

Hadron I've tried charging from my computer and the wall socket, what usually happens when I charge it is an icon appears showing a battery topping up but now, the screen stays blank and there is no indication that it is charging.

Widget Locker as I am reading it allows you to unlock the device with the use of the volume rocker. If there's a way to get your device awake than this could be a great work around.
I'm surprised that connecting the charger didn't do it.

No problem, always glad to help. :) Well, for photos if they're on an SD card than yes and for contacts you can back them up to your Gmail account. :)
