Did jb fix the lag?

Thinking of buying the razr hd... But I have a thing about laggy ui... How bad exactly is the lag? Did jb improve it? Is it overblown?

Thanks

not real sure, JB should fix lag on a lot of devices when upgraded after a data wipe that is. But the Moto Blur is something that can cause laggy ui, but rooting and roming takes care of that issue.

Just root it! That'll help.

If you're not into root, it's best to upgrade as soon as you get the phone and do a factory data reset.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback... Just about every review I've seen, the reviewer mentions that it lags.. One, think it was the pocket now guy but I watched quite a few, said there were lags of like 3 seconds at times! Something had to be up with that... But anyways.. Thanks... I'll just check it out myself, maybe look into rooting... Thanks again.

Mine upgraded to jellybean as soon as I powered it up so I never experienced it on ICS.

There definitely is some lag but it's very minor and isn't always there.

If they don't upgrade it to 4.2.2 in a couple of months I'll root mine and install a custom ROM.

I've never experienced lag on mine and I am not rooted, phone works smooth

I'm stock as well and previously had no lag issues...but after the latest update, I now have several lag issues...

When in car dock mode, there are times when the clock on the notification bar stops working for a couple of minutes...seems like everything else continues to function properly.

When unplugging from bedside dock, home screen fails. Takes a good minute or so for the home screen to work and reappear.

Many times unable to answer, dial or use the dialer/phone features for a few seconds...touch screen unresponsive.

Rebooting the phone does little to nothing to remedy any of those issues.

I rarely experience any lag. When I do, I do a simulated battery pull (power + volume down until reboot) and I'm good to go.

After removing the phone from the car dock today, the screen left the stock vehicle mode screen, but the icon in the notification bar that said the phone was still in vehicle mode remained on for 5 minutes...the clock in the notification bar did not advance, but the clock in the circles widget did continue to keep proper time. When tapping on the vehicle mode option (by pulling down the notification bar) the phone briefly displays a blank screen and then goes back to the home screen...but the vehicle mode icon remains in the notification bar... the phone also got very hot until it finally closed out of vehicle mode.

All stock launchers and vehicle mode app, did not run any other apps while in vehicle mode ...

Laggiest phone I've ever owned.

Example: when I tap a direct dial icon it takes a full 5 to 8 seconds to initiate the call. Simply inexcusable for a supposed $600 device...

Did you do a Factory Data Reset after upgrading to Jelly Bean?

... Thom

Yes, multiple times. Sometimes it's worse than others, but the battery life and performance have never been near what it was before JB was released.

It's mostly the home screen and the apps menu that lag- after closing out of an app it can take 10 seconds for the home screen to load, or for the apps menu to show anything other than a spinning circle. Gallery is laggy too, will just open to a black screen with the menu options but no photos for 20 seconds or more sometimes before loading the folders.

Always been an HTC guy and even with Sense, I never noticed lag. Same thing with my coworkers Samsung and my wife's iPhone 5.

Took a chance with the Razr HD and the lag is noticeable...before and after the update and with a factory reset (this should be done after any update in my opinion).

Everything just seems "choppy" on Moto devices and scrolling is just not smooth like it is on other phones. I will definitely be rooting as soon as I have a few minutes to sit down and play with it.

Why would "rooting" the phone make the lag go away?

Rooting alone would not make lag go away. However, loading a custom rom that removes overlays like Motorola's Blur or HTC's Sense and substantially increases performance, can "make lag go away".

It's what rooting allows that can reduce lag.

Mine lags horrible brand new. Way worse than the bionic after a year of no reset. Maybe it's google now which makes it "not now".

I'm waiting for 100% functional custom roms. Right now the only custom roms. in which everything works are basically stock rooted roms.

Yep, me too.

It's kind of frustrating being on a Moto device in that regard. I think back to my HTC Inc and there were 12 -15 viable roms at any given moment. Everyone trying to outdo everyone else.

No Sense, no bloat, no lag and no chop...just raw performance. I don't think we're gonna see that here.

i went to the verizon store and complained after trying everything. moto sent me a new maxx hd with JB already installed. phone is working no issues.
