Did jb fix the lag?

Look, all Android phones lag. Install an aosp rom and. presto lag is gone BUT wonky bluetooth, gps, etc. Nothing is perfect. Same problem with computers. No matter how powerful the device a bad programmer can and will always bog it down. Its frustrating but no way around it.

Horse-Hockey. I disagree totally. All droids do NOT lag.

Case and point:

My wife's stock GS3 is fast, fluid and super responsive in all screens and aspects - not to mention the music player works flawlessly - it's been an incredibly superb device so far. No need for ROMs or jail breaking or any of that stuff. The Bluetooth DOES work perfectly as does GPS.

We paid a lot of money for these devices - we shouldn't HAVE to rom anything just to make basic functions work as they should...

My 2 cents....

My old tbolt on froyo was. more zippy than any phone or system Ive had since. I find jb more laggy than ics.

I bet ge gs4 won't lag but as a second class citizen (vzw) I can't have it. I hate big red more every day.

Omg I found what was making my phone so laggy. It was super slow. it was the Facebook app. 39 permissions! I'd never looked to see what had creeped in there. I suggest you all take a look at the list. stupid stuff like control all apps, it runs all the time, read your phone logs. It goes on.
The moment I removed it my phone is back to normal. I won't be putting that back as it serves no purpose and is invasive. I installed Fast Facebook reader https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.fastfacebook.com which I actually like better once I figured out all the features. For Facebook contact pictures I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=heinrisch.contact.picture.sync which does better quality pix anyway.

I used a task manager to see what apps were running all the time. Then I started uninstalling and disabling built-in ones. Apps like Amazon, Slacker and some games have a permission for Boot Received that allows them to start themselves. You can kill them but they come back.

None made much of a difference until I got to FB. Removing FB made a big difference. It hooks itself into almost every function of the OS apparently. Therefore anything you want to do also invokes a FB service too. Want to dial a number? FB captures. Want to view contacts? Same. Everything it is hooked to adds more code for the phone to run and FB also can do anything it wants with what it captures. In DOS programming we called it an interrupt request handler and you could add as many as you want to add/change functionality.

I think the big one for FB was "control running apps". That sounds nasty. The launcher kept getting tossed out of memory and pushing home you had to wait for it to reload.

This is an Achilles heal of sorts for Android in that everything is a service. I'm lucky that is wasn't a service only process because it wouldn't have been so obvious. Google Now also hooks a bunch of stuff like web searches, calendar events and email so it also slows down the phone. G+ so far hasn't reared an ugly face but I think it also has thirty-some permissions.

I just removed Facebook on both my Phone and Nexus 10. While neither seemed laggy before this they were not overly fast either. With the app removed and systems rebooted to be sure they both are at least 50% snappier now........

How do you view feed by most recent in Fast? Nevermind. I can't even play videos that i've posted. Evil giant FB wins again. I need a good FB replacement!

I don't have those issues. The feed is in recent order and videos play fine. Just click into the post and a playable image appears.

I removed fb on day one and my maxx hd is still laggy. My tbolt is faster and has more free ram with exactly the same apps.
